Since we got the Meji Restoration for Japan, I think other Asian nation also deserve to have some unique options. For China there are quite a few interesting options. Xinhai Revolution is the one when you want to fully westernize your army I suppose, and things like Taiping Rebellion can be when you want to get a more old fashioned army.

辛亥革命太晚了，1911年，马上就要打第一次世界大战了。彼时的社会环境、战场环境、军事科技、工业科技，和帝国时代三最后那段时间所展现出来的状态，已经完全没有关系了。即便要加西化内容，也是洋务运动更符合。

Which units and to what you would change with the Self Improvement Movement?

长枪兵、长刀手——新军步兵（火枪手）
飞鸦：克虏伯野战炮
碗口铳、猛火油柜：加特林机枪
汉族双骑：升级为“北洋马队（近战）”。
蒙古双骑：升级为“北洋卡宾枪骑兵”
海军新增铁甲舰和汽船
特色机制：领事馆“师夷长技”
可聘请“德国军事顾问”（提升步兵炮兵训练速度与纪律性）或“英美技术专家”（提升采矿、工业税收与造船速度）。
以上内容没有经过深想，信口为之。北洋新军也是1895之后甲午战争才有的。

In terms of Self Strengthing movement, the first thing come to my mind is converting all the pike, changdao swordsman into a musketeer type of unit.
For example, Qiang Pikeman becomes Lian Bing or Bing, which is a weaker version of a European musketeer, similar to the russian one. Changdao Swordman become Xiang Yong or Yong, which is a karl type of unit.
The banner army can also have some changes. Standard army → Huai Jun, Old Han → Chu Jun
There are plenty of options but I need to find some proper names.
Yes, those are good options…but they should be done through the Town Center and not the consulate…
