Some sound effects disappear, notably Trebuchets (launch sound, projectile impact). In the attached clip you can probably notice other missing sound effects (I think the castle being destroyed is another one, and after thinking about it I remember Joan of Arc in the campaign not saying anything when being ordered around). I do not have an exhaustive list however.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
100% of the time / matches I play (ALWAYS)
Note that this occurs only after the game (as in AOE2:DE) has been running for a while, around a couple hours maybe. Closing and restarting the game fixes the issue.
Also so far this issue only occured on single player games (campaign and skirmish), but I haven’t tested multiplayer games.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:
Play the game for some time without restarting.
Observe: some of the sound effects stop playing.
EXPECTED RESULT
I’d like not to be suprised by stealthy trebs
GAME FILES (SAVE / RECORDING)
Attach a SAVE GAME (.aoe2spgame) or GAME RECORDING (.aoe2record) of the match where you encountered the issue. Link it below if using an external file service.
Hello @Petate7031
We didn’t have any report about sound effects missing until now, unfortunately the clip you sent isn’t available, I can watch it. Could you please upload it again?
Thanks for the report!
I wrote a ticket so the team can investigate this issue
Do you have the game installed in an external drive?
I can only ask you to reinstall the game just in case some files are corrupted.
I can confirm this bug. It was present in the pre release version (I’m game reviewer, had access to press build) and its also present in store version. It happens after you load game numerous times.
Hello, I finally took some time to reproduce the issue after a game reinstall, and I did.
It occured around ~3h of play (without closing the game), during which I played only solo campaign, around 4 games total. The console was suspended twice during this time.
Unfortunately I messed up the capture and I don’t have one, but this time there were no trebs involved, I noticed the issue because one of my villagers didn’t make any sound, neither when clicked or when ordered.
Good to see this posted, have also experienced this. First time I tried an online game, the issue was in effect from the very start. In campaign play it does seem to take a few hours as described.
