You guys murdered the swedish economy. Here are some suggestions on how to fix it

4 age II cards to only establish your eco? It’s a bit too much for 1v1. Brits for example need only 2 cards to make a much stronger and safer boom than swedes.

They cost 300 food, 4 LC = your ticket to age III. I like LC, but not building them before age IV is always a better option.

I got a simple Torp rework idea:
Give the Torp the same collection rate as a villager. Like exactly, even with upgrades. Maybe even with the ability to work on Mills but that might be too much.
The Torp can only collect one resource at once. Just rightclick it. It will switch automatically when it’s empty. There is an optional idle Torp indicator like idle villager.
Limit 4/mine is done by coding in a limit instead of changing the minimal distance.
The Torp costs 135 wook like the British one.

This would also make it easier to balance them in the future because they are more like an additional villager.

Home city card to increase range in lategame.
Maybe a card that allows them to train berry bushes so they would be kinda like livestock.

Torps stop collection resources when attacked, they take 5-10 seconds after being attacked to collect again. This could also be done to shrines.

You are serious about saying that 1500+ HP torps for 125 wood each is less save than 150 HP Brit settlers all over the map from building forward Manor Houses next to Hunts? While Torps give vision, can act as shipment point after dominion, can be used to ship offensively and defensively?

No idea how anyone would come to a conclusion like that.

I’ve never said that having 20 vils is safer than having 20 torps, I said that building 20 manors is safer than building 20 torps. You still need to build torps with your 150 hp villagers all over the map and do it much earlier when brits player starts the third herd. It’s too easy to prevent building torps (and kill extra vils for free), and there is no risk to “raid” torps while brits still can protect themselves from the raids like other civs do. Also, swedes eco too bad in the early game, and their boom pays off too late, so they just cannot afford an army big enough to protect their boom, while brits have no problem with it.

Just watch some swedes vs brits games (high-middle lvl) even before the patch to see how good is this MU for brits.

I’ve been saying this since launch. British vs Sweden matchup (1v1) was already bad. Now it’s nearly impossible.

have tried getting used to the changes and now its fairly clear that they have over done it.

the eco is WRECKED. those commenting otherwise probably dont play as sweden much. or just part of the bunch of loud complainers who do not have a good strategy to beat them and cry OP. i can tell you that comparable ELOs can easily beat sweden (me) with sometimes quite interesting techniques, usually to do with map control, early rush or just constant harrasment and preventing torp building in distant mines. it was 50/50 before. if i make a mistake and a bit slow, i lose.

mercenaries are not easier or more available. so the justification for nerfing caroleans etc… is rubbish. eco wrecked… how do you get mercenaries which cost a lot.

food income from torps drop away very quickly and leave a big hole that is hard to fill in age 2. esp since blueberries does not replenish the torp which has lost its berry bush. it used to last long enough to age up to fortress before having to swap into mills etc.

you cant practically build more than 3 torps around a mine and sometimes only 2 due to mine position. there are not enough mines around particularly in 1vs1.

it has got so unplayable that i have largely stopped playing sweden. i have move on to something else.

there is little point pointing out that GOOD PLAYERS can come up with great strategies etc… good players will do well with anything. im just an average player. not a total noob but also not competition level. i just play this for fun.

this civ is now much different and what they have done is against good sense. changes should be made incrementally rather than BANG… practically a whole new civ which destroys all the routines one is familiar with.

If the collision area becomes larger, the collection area should also become larger, right?

I hope that the development team continue to observe the top players’ data.
And refer to the positive and negative opinions of the forum. Maintain balance and fun.

trouble of just looking at top players data… is ignoring that the mass of people buying this game are not competition level players.

i dont know how much money they make from hosting tournaments blahblah… but i would have thought that the major portion of their revenue would be from the average joe who doesnt play in competitions…

i think they need to take heed of the average joe as well as seeing how it affects the top

i dont know the stats but given that it seems sweden isnt really a common top player civ… why they screw it up so bad for??

I think if they keep the changes and revert the changes to englesberg ironworks or maybe even revert it back to its original gathering rate, the civ will be fine.

Dev can try to put better way for top players for competition (in case most of top player really consider Sweden is weak), but sure it is not returning the previous patch.

Previous patch created empire of Sweden in med/noob level, the game is not only for top players.

no one is asking for them to revert back to the exact point sweden was before the patch, but some of the most arsenin changes like blueberries really should be reverted.
