DP’s Opinion
I think the ‘variants’ is a stupid idea.
This will just create a million more problems and turn AoE4 into constant ‘add civs’ arguing threads.
I told you that civ designs should’ve been consistent and kept to a specific empire or kingdom rather than ‘French’ so we never had this issue. And having a civ called ‘Joan of Arc’s Army’ or ‘Sultan’s Army’ is just so dumb. What exactly are they representing that wasn’t done by their respective civs?
These variants will destroy civ building logic
the way they named the variant civs i think rest of them would be filled with rubbish civs not actual historical civs
People are hyperfocused on the names but I just don’t like the addition of these variants altogether which needlessly inflate the civ roster. These changes could have enhanced the base civs, I feel. Even if they played completely differently than their base civ I don’t like it.
There are a good number of great candidates for future DLC. AoEIV much like AoE3 doesn’t need 40+ civs. Every roster spot counts and personally I’d rather have a well-fleshed-out Mayan civ than “Sultan’s Army” much less the three others. They don’t feel immersive and don’t fit with the rest of the roster for obvious reasons.
If I bought this DLC seeing those civs in the selection menu would bother me. Byzantines and Japanese are good choices that got me semi-interested but unfortunately, that interest is negated by these variants.
I think it anyway, because it consumes space, now we are at 16 civilizations here they can have the excuse to say that there are many civilizations so they do not add others, when they are not 100% new civilizations, then if new ones are added, it creates confusion, with people thinking they are new, I think they are nice, but it was better to make real new civilizations instead of making hybrids, It’s a shame because there are still so many civilizations to be added, and it almost seems that to make little effort and end, they did what they did. just to say, you see, they are no longer 2 as before but now they are more, so as to silence those who wanted more’ them but genuinely 100%.
In general, the most bitter thing about all this is that, yes there are new factions, but they seem made only to close a market, not because in the game there are, it seems made only to buy the DLC, and not because they are currently a good idea. This thing was accepted if it was done to 16 civilizations ‘plus’ variants, not immediately in this way it almost seems that they will not add more’ real civilizations’ but only variants, for gameplay and that’s it, as if instead of having improved the sandwich, they gave you another. And I would like to say, that Age of Empire 4, always gave me the idea from the beginning and I really liked it, to be a game that tried to be accurate in the story, in the campaign with all those fantastic documentaries and historical writings, I read them and saw them all, and at some point I continued with the missions almost just for them. Then on the official website that were uploaded historical stories and costumes, the story is important, especially on a game that relies a lot on it, leaving it in this way only for the gameplay, it only makes me sorry.
Then there are casual players who say that there are few civilizations in AoE4 and that in AoE2 there are more. Many of these casual players don’t care if they are somewhat “symmetrical” as long as it changes the gameplay. Some are interested in quality, and others in quantity.
Combining quantity and quality is not a bad thing.
This concept seems to me Like McDonald’s stuff for me.
I don’t think your statement is worth anything, since it’s a game because it has to be accurate, we are in 2023, what you say is to make everything an emeritus capitalism, without thinking with the brain. And I mean that I am 20 years old and I have only played AOE4 in depth hours and hours, I am not a person with an old mentality, but I understood how the market and the world goes, and I would like to express my opinion to change it.
AHahhahaha well said
Let’s hope it is as they advertised to us xD
every aoe fan who have been playing the game for 25 years care more about the civ name

The “you’re not allowed to criticize historical representation” starter pack:
This is a game not a historical simulator
You’re asking for 100% accuracy or 1:1 copy paste
Why don’t you also complain about xxxx and yyyy?
I personally do not care about it.
You’re using Chinese to fight against French in Arabia, why do you even care about accuracy?
Go read a historical textbook if you want historical accuracy
It’s just a loud minority
You’re attacking the devs
Get well soon.
20 char
We get it dude. You identify VERY strongly with Iran. All these persia/iran comments are totally off topic though.
Someone said that the civilizations on the video are written in Farsi, translate it, I don’t understand, I did it just because of him
perfection hope one day we can come to this xD
Its a shame when people flag someone to censor a truth. Anyway, fortunately I got rid of this game
I’d remove Italian city states
Like wtf is that even
I’d remove Norway
Irrelevant
I’d remove Kingdom from Hanthawady. Dumb font.
I’d remove Ryuku. Irrelevant
I have a hard time believing AoE4 will ever reach that many civs unless they change the civ design and go more for AoE2 style which I hope they don’t do. One of many things that make AoE4 different and better in my opinion is the uniqueness for each civ.
