Adding custom campaigns to the main campaign screen?

I’m pretty sure the devs have intentionally blocked this, the same as adding new civs, but I am still hopeful that I’m just missing a file somewhere.

I am trying to make my custom campaign show up on the main campaign map, same as the official ones. I’ve gotten very, very close, successfully creating a custom icon, including hover and help text, but the actual connection to the campaign itself appears to be through an unchangeable “DataValue” in the file. I can connect this icon to any official campaign, but any attempt to connect to a different data value causes a crash.

Is it possible to add my custom campaign to this list of datavalues, or have the devs intentionally blocked this for modders?

It would be cool to allow certain campaigns to be under the normal page since they are/may be considered “a fit” in there. It would be great not only for AOE2DE but Return of Rome as well!

Any news on this subject? Anyone knows how to do it? Would be nice!
