Additional shipments of my wish in AOE3

Yeah, in fact I was trying to follow up with the proposition of adding a musket type unit to the Aztecs, some kind of javelin thrower which could be tagged as gunpowder infantry (like the tomahawk). So smokeless powder would affect this unit and the conquistador. But this may not be worth it.

As for the other jesuit techs, I totally agree with you. They’d be useless.

However, I don’t like the idea of choosing between maya, carib or zapotec. Only zapotecs had a very limited contact with the aztecs.

I would like they move Scharhorst reform, that card which transform the crossbowmen to landwher for Germans, to age 2, it’s actually in age 3

Landwher is almost useless for advance units in age 3

tommahawks are not gunpowder units, you are thinking of musket infantry tag.

They are affected by flintlock, therefore they are gunpowder infantry. Go see for yourself.

Tupi would be a closer match than Caribs. The natives in the area were known for using poisoned arrows, and some Tupi tribes dwelled near Venezuela.

Thanks for suggestion, that’s the another option with 20 Blackwood Archers to substitute 16 blowgunners :grin::grin:

you are right they have the gunpowder tag. thats very strange considering haud have no way to access flintlock or paper cartridge.

might be one of those bugs that has nearly no game impact so they don’t remove it

This makes no sense, since revs are available at age IV

The Tomahawk could possibly be a modified version of the Musketeer.

According to what is stated under the trivia on the Age of Empires wiki the Tomahawk unit did apparently emit a trail of smoke when performing his ranged attack, as if he had shot with a firearm, in the WarChiefs expansion. This error was later corrected in the Definitive Edition of the game.

Indeed, that’s weird. According to the wiki page, this is for balance reasons. It also says that every musket unit is also a gunpowder unit, which isn’t true and therefore very inconsistent.

tomos are coded as gunpowder infantry because its the intended role; it functions exactly as a musketeer and this makes sure team cards and arsenal techs effect it without having to create a special unit class and code it for every interaction for 1 single unit which would be a pain, time consuming, and likely lead to some issues.

often irl lore reasons> in game lore reasons

the problem is that haud have no access to techs that affect the gunpowder tag, like at all.

they end up creating another tag to reflect its relation to musketeer already, the musket infantry tag

the only case where this would apply is the team port card and the jesuit tech and if that is the case then there are a lot more units that would require this tag to fit the mold and it would be better to just remove the toma from this class

New ways has bayonet tech accessible from longhouse which iirc tags musket troops

yeah but not gunpowder trooper tag

which is the weird tag that toma has

gunpowder trooper tag is affected by the advanced arsenal techs

I have to disagree. Because even if most of times it will serve no purpose, it would be sad not to let them benefit from these very few techs. Other units gascenya, who are musket but not gunpowder, are a problem though.

No, I just checked. They don’t have it.

Wdym dont have it the tag of musket troop? Cause the card ofc does unlock basic arsenal techs

I feel like its better just to give them other changes rather then shoehorn things in, its effectively just adding a special clause to cards that gives effects to units.

Like Gascenya used to have the hand infantry tag before it was removed

Or how the mayan javelineer has the foot archer tag else they are not affected by their own upgrade.

The only cases where the gunpowder tag would have an impact on toma is team port, jesuit smokeless tech and if you roll the depot on unknown it gives faster firing, like none of these that interesting to have.

The card doesn’t unlock socket bayonnet.

True
Honestly its probably fine as is cause at least you know what a musket is. This might cause more confusion

Still not a huge deal either way im just guessing in. World where italian fort bugs last months or now can block sweden off mines this is low priority
