Africa should get more

That’s not difficult to imagine. Early gunpowder weapons were terrible, and it’s easy to see how a smooth stone accurately thrown by a person from a sling could be just as effective, if not more so.

This maps shows why it would benefit the game so much to include Songhai, Hausa and kanembornu. It’s a massive area, interconnected, missing empires and civs that had contact with other civs in the game. Not a stretch like polynesians that never saw anyone else in that time.

With them and later nubia and somalis, a lot of Africa history would be covered.

The same thing they did with the meso- and southern American civilizations.

I just noticed that congo is the only rain forest civ in Africa. I guess we would need a new biom for this?

New trees and animals like gorilla and chimpanzee, mandrill and Baboons

Already there, albeit called “Monkey”.

kind of beside the point, but early bullets were often stones as well. Then replaced by cast iron or lead.

pointed bullets only really became a thing in the 19th century, with steel bullets being developed even later, mostly for armor piercing.

so you aren’t comparing “throwing stones” with “bullets accelerated by gunpowder”, but rather “throwing stones” with “stones accelearted by gunpowder”. with rocks this small, terminal velocity is a pretty big factor, so the speed (and range) isn’t that different.

Conquistadors themselves chronicled how slinged stones were almost as deadly as gunpowder.

Not anymore. And it’s been 5 months.

now its for 4 civs even

You seem to almost be taking offense that there are civs from the Americas in the game.

no i just wanted to correct his “not anymore” comment, to the contrary. I think there should be more south american civs

Adding a new architecture set with the DLC seems like the new trend. One of the only things I like about the game currently.

So adding Kanembu, Nubians and Somalis makes the most sense to me.

Ethiopians, Nubians and Somalis would have a new, East African architecture.

The current African set will also need a retouch for it to be Sahel-exclusive as the Imperial Age includes some Ethiopian design elements (wall patterns etc)

Yep. Chimu is no brainer. And maybe Iroques.

Iroquois are North American but I’d also like to see them. Albeit it might be better to have a wider “Iroquoians” umbrella civ, as “Iroquois” refers specifically to members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy; whereas “Iroquoians” refers to all speakers of the Iroquoian languages, such as the Cherokee or the Monongahela culture.

Anything to represent USA and Canada areas will be good additions after TLC.

My friends Africa is definitely going to get an expansion dlc for sure trust the devs hehe

You are absolutely right, sir. Developers should release a special DLC that includes optional regional unit reskins for both villagers and regular units like archers, pikemen, halberdiers, and swordsmen.

My thoughts for a “southern Africa” group would be Kongo, Zimbabwe, Swahili, and (maybe controversially) Benin (The Kingdom of Benin in modern southern Nigeria). I think for the purposes of AOE2 West Africa mainly counts the Sahel, and the more tropical area along the southern coast (of Nigeria in this case) would still count as southern Africa.

for splitting East and West Africa for DLC purposes i’d say Kanem Boru is the furthest east of West Africa. I have a breakdown of how i’d like to see Africa handled somewhere…
