Thats why you made such an effort over the last decade (and luckily failed) to destroy everything about pc gaming to streamline an xbox experience on pc’s.
I dont think M$ has even the slightest clue what pc gaming is about any more.
We will be the judge iof it being beautifully remaster, would not be the first time M$ people who don’t really know the games they are commenting about claim great things about it.

Not sure where you read this, but Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is a Windows 10 exclusive via the Windows Store.
AOE IV seems very unlikely, since a sequel would hold so many expectations from so many people of differing opinions, plus so much hype that it should be given almost AAA treatment.
What else could it be?
-Free giveaways of some kind
-AOE II given a Definitive Edition
-Some kind of open tournament or other push to get AOE into the competitive spotlight
-An open beta, coming after the closed beta
-AOE Online comes back online (officially)
-AOE 3 gets a new patch and its servers come online (unlikely since we have it on Steam)
-A new bundle of all AOE games comes to the Windows Store (very likely since they’re trying to push the Windows Store big time)
In addition, it would be truly disappointing if they didn’t announce the price of AOE DE.
Toss out your ideas below, these are just some of my thoughts
AOE 3 is running with ESO servers, Steam only works as game downloader.
Now that we know close-beta invites might be going out Friday (7/28) and Game Con is (8/21) I believe it will either be announce to be either Open beta or Game price with date of release.

Due to money spent making AOE:II into HD plus 3 xpacs, i doubt they are going to put anymore money into AOE:II especially into a game they already updated from the base game already.

No source i made a mistake taken from the thread already that stated that the first wave was sent, which by the way was your thread, I didnt read the last page where the poster said he misread the FAQ and ask to lock there i will post thread here: https://forums.ageofempires.com/discussion/693/first-beta-invites-sent#latest.
