Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition DLC News

Lol? That can be changed easily.

We can change the exe, the problem are the servers. If we want to build our own, we need alternative infrastructure.

Legacy had a limit for cis / AI.
That’s not presend in DE , the actual civ limit would be somewhere around 357237 civs, based on the engine.

Just registering my absolute disappointment. After two days and stepping back to reevaluate, it still comes across as a ‘pull the rug from under our feet’ feeling.

Maybe I need to take up modding

Man take a hiatus from the forum and step back from playing as much to come back and see this.
Totally shameless, not that we didn’t already know WE and whoever else is in charge sucked.
But no worries all AOE 4 is here and will probably get a new DLC soon.

i already have strelets, great bombards, keshigs, elephant artillery, Landsknecht, and ships with guns. And it is friggin Glorious . Aoe4 can do w/e but I already got peak vibe when my strelets zerg swarm, my bombards errupt shots into a sea of +12s, my ships fall apart, and my swordsmen actually rip and tear. The kids can have their plastic men and whistles and cannons crewed by ghosts. I am content with 3

Yup. It was a complete blindside. After stringing us along for an entire year, World’s Edge stabbed us in the back.

And I will never forgive nor forget.

I bought Age of 1 De and Microsoft has abonded the game with ton of bugs. Then they have added Age of1 to the Age of 2 De. I understand that Microsoft is evil. Abondoning age of 3 de is another level about being evil.

After neglecting the game for over a year and a half, is this all they have to say?

Oh, there is plenty they said if you read between the lines. Primarily saying something along the lines of “F*** you, AOE3 players.”

It’s almost like the Russians and Ottomans are only in 4 as a ploy to draw out the AoE3 playerbase. It didn’t work.

Well ya’ll, its been great. I’ll see you all on the modding side of things where we fix all the random bugs and balance issues without corporate pressure. Here’s to 20 more years. :call_me_hand:

That needs to be fixed its a critical bug to exploit in games that ruins games by preventing other players from building in places. Really hoping for bug fixes.

Is there any particular reason WE couldn’t have just stepped away and given 3DE over to FE to do what they please with? It’s clear that WE doesn’t care about 3DE but FE had a vested interest in making it interesting.

If WE doesn’t care what happens to the game in the first place, why not let FE go wild? 3DE has already been used as the testing grounds for a wide array of things implemented into the other games, it’s a perfect place for FE to just mess around and do what they please with, sans constraints from WE.

My guess is that this would distract from the work they want FE to be assigned to.

This is the attitude that will keep the game alive more than anything else.

We don’t know what happened internally.
Maybe it was Forgotten Empires that didn’t want to go back to working at AoE3DE after working on AoMR because it would mean going back to an older version of the Engine. The same reason why they stopped updating AoE1DE after AoE2DE came out.

There is a small chance that they cut AoE3DE in favour of AoE5. They apparently started hiring Unreal Engine 5 devs which would be a strong hint towards a new AoE game that is not on mobile (The Unity Engine still dominates the mobile market).
Thought that might me many years in the future. AoE4 had many years between announcement, first trailer and then release and AoE5 isn’t even announced yet.

Considering tilanus lead dev got hired because he made mods for aoe3, he continued to engage in community, and he seemed quite excited to take a 2nd stab at poland and denmark (he made Napolenic era mod btw) i highly doubt he was done with aoe3.

Rememeber this guy did this for fun for years and already had a template. And Considering he couldn’t even push patches out for his content, i highly doubt FE was the reason this dlc and all support got shuttered

I know there were/are people that are passionate about AoE3 in Forgotten Empires but are they the majority?
Maybe they did an internal vote or something like that.

Just saying that it’s easy to blame Worlds Edge when none of us have an insights into how they really operate.

I mean you’re not wrong ita just

I made a post elsewhere of just how Worlds Edge treats us. So while maybe FE made the call, we know WE never gave much care if at all for aoe3. Can only conclude stuff given the available evidence
