I am having trouble understanding the reasoning for the ottoman all infantry combat card. giving otto 500hp janassaries is going to be a hard thing to balance if ever

maxed abus are now just buffed in every single way and age 2 jan abus are at basically full power minus that team 15% atk card

I need to finish a super important college paper by tomorrow and the devs just drop 6 months worth of updates today of all days! :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob:

With longbowman slightly nerfed and thin red line finally becoming a worthwhile technology, would glorious revolution - ranger be more viable?
I’m not sure about that.

Also thin red line with drummer might be a strong combination.

Thin red line is worth using now imo, especially in a large fight that might decide the game and late game you can offset the speed penalty with advanced ######## ####### #### #### though, no way I’d ever use them even if longbow have received a nerf.

I really liked this update. I especially love that they included the charged snipe attack for assassins I had been asking for. Now maybe those units will find s more prominent role in the meta.

Yes there are quite a few frequently requested things in this update:

  • A more HRE German
  • A more Ottoman Ottoman
  • French revolution
  • Viable spies and spy upgrades
  • New mercs/natives for civs that are relevant

Overall it’s a great patch. Balance can always be adjusted and there is a few months time to do that.

The thing is… we pissed them so much with the Karelian Jaeger (that still can’t be tagged as a villager), that the French Revolution Villager ends even worse, also without the villager tag.
“HAH… in your faces!!!”

Loved that revolution, hate that villager.
It’s our fault man. Sorry France.

Did you see how AMAZING Chile became? I Believe that was a more “definitive revolution” than Napoleonic one. It ended up simpler, imo.

I loved the much needed reworks for the oldest civs, but I’m disappointed that the Italians received only nerfs…

I mean, some were needed, but not without compensation in other sectors…

I had a good laugh when I found this bug.

I’m with you, my poor guy pavisier still didn’t get any tweak for his stances and Schiavone still comes in 60 seconds before AgeIV, a “Basilica unit” that doesn’t get any special ability with the “Papal Arsenal” Home City Card and doesn’t even have the deflection ability.

However, the devs did a great job packing this huge patch. I’m also glad that we can finally rename decks.

We love this game, too, but we’ve seen too many stories of publishers breaking up teams for commercial gain. We fear that Age of Empires 3 will sacrifice for Age of Empires 4.

Don’t worry Portuguese will have their time to shine, they hadn’t rexeived a rework yet.

Organ gun could be a merc option of the gatling, and Ports could get Swivel guns instead, but I fail to see what could be their niche (other than firing fast).

Nice to see my suggestion of HRE allies (I bet that they could had think about it without me). Also germans get solified their merc ######## (I D. E NT.I Ty) with the Merc camps. Lets see if something of this is competitive or just for flavour (a thing that is nice, everythibg doesnt need to be meta). Landwerhs also are nice from a more modern Germany, filling bridges with the Prussian needle guns.

One thing that I lacked is an unique skin for Sansculotte. I will report the bug also, but I got female voices for Sansculottes.

This is what I’d like to see too.

Give the Portuguese the Bercos (Portuguese Swivel Gun) which can do anti-infantry/cav damage up close in an area of effect shotgun-like blast and then rename Organ Gun to either Organok, give it the Cossacks voices and make it a Cossack Mercenary unit, or rename it to Organкі, give it a Polish unit voice and make it a Polish-Lithunaian Commonwealth mercenary unit, as both used them.

I love that they have hear my suggestion of changing aztec WC card, as it didnt make sense; and faster shipments in imperial (I didnt expect the change for everyone but seem fair tho).

About indians I like the buffs, but too much HC cards that cant be placed in a treaty deck (that are thought for treaty) Ex: conscript sepoys dont have place in a treaty match.

Lets see how it works, but I cant until weekend :c

What I’m worried about is the Day 6 challenge “Research 5 Naval Technologies in a Multiplayer match”. Is it actually multiplayer locked? Or is it just a typo in this update blog. I really hope that they aren’t doing what AoEIV is doing and locking some challenges behind multiplayer, leaving those who prefer singleplayer out. At least AoEIV doesn’t force you to complete the challenges in order.

eh? Brits get new units? I thought other than auxilaries it was the same as before except they lose Guard Pikemen (They were among the worst pikemen even though brits had guard upgrades)… And they don’t need the Rangers card if they’ve got the church card to produce rangers in the long run.
