Review as in: review of the patch notes, not a review of the current meta after 14 days of playing. Tbh don’t see how that word is not applicable here.
Various people review these patch updates and have been for a long time for many games.

They absolutely did.
-20% hp across the board for +1 ranged armour makes them worse against anything but low damage ranged units, meaning really early feudal age archerstacks.

Like I said, not knocking the content. I’m not saying Viper doesn’t know his stuff (at all. That’d be ridiculous). I’m just of the belief balance changes need a bit of time to settle, so it’s funny to me seeing something labelled as ain in-depth review immediately after the notes are made available.

Also, honestly, 45 minutes? For a YouTube video that’s pretty long. But in terms of covering the changes? I dunno, I feel like it could easily go longer.

I’m well aware of who Viper is! I was making a friendly knock on the habits of content creators and video titles, we don’t need to go like this at it.

Yeah, that’s fair. But I was presuming - especially from Viper - meta commentary would be baked in. Like I’ve said (twice now), was commenting on the phrasing of the title more than anything. So sue me.

It was their role to counter archers/longbows and nothing more though. They just increased said specialization.

(Going by the unit counter chart, they are now less effective against crossbows though)

People were complaining about how Mangonels are better than Nest of Bees :

  • Mangonel reload time : 8.75 to 6.75 seconds
  • Mangonel area effect : 180 to 360 degrees

I kinda agree with thoses changes to avoid mass cav, mass Maa

  • NoB movement speed increased from 2.5 to 3.75 (deserved)
  • NoB weapon minimum range increased from 2.5 to 3
  • NoB health reduced : 240 to 200
  • NoB training reduced : 45 to 40 seconds
  • NoB damage increased : 8x8 to 8x10

That means Mangonels (already better than NoB) shoot now 30% faster on a circle AoE, when NoB just get a QoL buff, don’t forget about the accuracy of the NoB (bug?) and how long it needs to stay on the target. For me the gap between this two is higher than before. I’m happy with the mangonels changes but I think NoB needs a fix like shooting faster or be more accurate and hit those damages.

Edit : True stuff is, because of the others changes, we’ll have to test it a little more, Chinese are really specific and lategame oriented.

I think it’s a good patch. each of us would do something different. we have to support relic. try to make communication flow. but forget because you are right in everything.

And still no projectile amount change, they look ridiculous currently when firing.

They never said that this patch will fix all of everyone’s wishes and issues with the game. Always this ungrateful whining on these forums.

Really good patch overall. I really appreciate it.
I liked some changes, disliked others, but at least it gives a good idea of what direction they want to take the game.

The drop was due to Mongols on the last tournament, I think we’ll get a better vision in a month

I would have preferred them to postpone said patch a week or two to include the resource exploit fix.
Now their patch is pretty much wasted as many players myself included won’t play this game until this bug is fixed.

There is no fun in team games when matches transform into Among us interrogations where everyone suspects his enemy to be cheating resources.

I hope they do not dare to not fix it until next year.

All we want is to fix game-breaking features yet they fixed like half (cancel-build extra res. remains) of them while adding more by uneccesary changes (spearman with infinite range attack like really?) … Should we lick their a**** for that or what?

I want a playable game after 4 months since beta … is this too much am asking for?

For me it’ll be problematic on English matchup keep rushing mass LB + Spearman, because Horsemen will take more damage from Spearman + autobrace and get lesser hp to tank the time of doing damage against archers. They’ll still be efficient for run-by but that’s all I guess

Anyone can see the map when the game end? I can’t see it.

First of all, they never said that they would fix all of the known issues with this patch but it’s going in the right direction. You might not approve on certain balance changes, and that’s okay to disagree with the developers but please have patient and keep letting them know about it.

I just watched Assusie talking about the patch, and he’s very happy with it and he went into great detail about most changes which helps to understand it better from someone who knows what they are talking about. All I’m saying is before we start to panic, try to first understand the patch notes and see how the meta changes or not and then we can continue to provide them with feedback.

Apart from a few questionable decisions and changes to this patch, overall it’s great and can’t wait to play more :slight_smile:

It does not matter what they said, there are exploits that make team games especially unplayable, so them not focusing on that prio 1 issue is a thing that is absolutely legit to criticize.
