After nearly 2 years, can this issue please get some attention from the devs? For those of us who like to play games involving AI, this sucks that it’s been so thoroughly ignored that despite detailed bug reports, it can’t even get a response from a developer.
As of September 21st, 2021, this issue is still a problem. It totally ruined our game.
Hey everyone,
we are now tracking this issue and hopefully we will be able to fix it soon.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback, have a great day.
This is the same for campaign games btw, when you reload a campaign mission the AI stops working.
Already has been on HD back in the days.
Ahhh maybe that’s what’s been happening now that you mention it. Every time I quit without winning and come back later to play or “continue” this happens. So frustrating but I’ve been playing this game for 20 years so what’s another few months?
Hey guys, i have a question for those who experienced this bug, did the same player host the game as before the restore or someone else?
Thanks for the answer
Hello !
We got this AI bug with my friend yesterday with the latest patch !
What happened :
MY FRIEND was the host. We were 2vs2AIvs2AIvs2AI. The game was ~10-15min.
HE was disconnected for whatever reason. I was in vocal with him but his game didn’t crashed, I see him disconnected with a message on the ingame messages, I get another message that the game was saved in MY COMPUTER. Then 10s after HE got a message that he was disconnected.
The multiplayer savegame WASN’T in HIS COMPUTER but in MY COMPUTER.
So he couldn’t be the host to relaunch the game.
I created a lobby (so I WAS THE HOST this time) with the savegame, he downloaded the savegame, we take back our “player number” and restarted with the save game.
Results :
When reloading (myself as a host with my friend the ex-host), the AI didn’t do anything, only the previous actions before the crash were live (lumberjack, farmers…), we could attack TC without them garisonning, only the army units fight back if we attack them next to them (militia), but they didn’t move if we were going back. I can see that a lot of AI created villagers (1 or 2) but they are idling at ther TC, maybe they were in creation when my friend disconnected. Also, when I ordered my militia to attack an unit, if there were a closer ennemy unit, he will not execute my order but attack the closer unit !
So yeah, to resume if the host crashed, and a second guy is being the new host, the AI seems to be inactive.
Usually with a drop the player that dropped is the only one who has an accurate save where nothing was lost. They often become the host (so the host does switch). However, I have never managed to get it to work, even when I as the host dropped and rehosted the game as suggested.
So to reproduce, should be:
- Create a game with 2 human players and 2 AI players
- Disconnect the host human player from internet such that a drop happens.
- From the same host, restore the game, this brings you to the lobby.
- Go to one of the AI Players and observe that they are not doing anything.
Hi all,
Thanks for your comments, we were able to reproduce the issue thanks to your info
We have updated the ticket.
Anyone know if this has already been fixed? In particular for campaigns.
I think this thread is mostly talking about online multiplayer AI since I have experienced them, however single player shouldnt have this problem at all. if you did, its an entirely different issue which should be looked at, with it’s own thread.
Well, the cause (reload) and the effect (AI behaving weirdly inactive, idle) were identical so you would think it’s somehow related at least.
However, I made a few experiments with an old save game that was affected and it seems to be fixed as well now.
