What about the waterfall? Where does that come from?
Honestly the Mapuche UUs and Guechas are just another example of UUs that dont need gimmicks
The gimmicks just make the units more complicated to balance and gimmicky to use
To be fair, I don’t think the gimmicky aspect is that bad. That said, it’s still too early to tell.
The gimmicky aspects sound mote like they will be Keshik-ish in its relevancy to me. Because an anti gunpowder cav that doesnt need upgrades, an anti cav short ranged CA and a tanky, hard hitting and fast skirm sound unique and fun enough. Admitedly I have the same opinion on most of the Three Kimgdom UUs, who have good enough aspects and were turned into something super gimmicky so yeah we must wait and see
Also the Tupi Infantry UU “gimmick” is perfect. It doesnt sound clunky or annoying at all, just a stronger blast damage
Now that the images in the Steam Store description have been replaced by video clips, those alt texts all make sense.
Tapir confirmed. I assume the smaller animals are the updated Javelinas? There are also monkeys in the woods, probably eye candy like the Panda Rock. Hardly recognisable in a low-quality still image, watch the video instead (also shows Powder Kegs and War Dogs in action).
Now since the Champi Warrior will be a line from Dark to Imperial, I hope the Slinger will be turned into a line of units similar to the Fire Lancer or the Eagle Line.
(Imperial Slinger exclusive to the Incas)
They look like the pig herdable but they have no collar, wild animal.
Yes there is monkey at the center and the center right
Also I love the terraced terrain : editor object or new type of cliff ?
Likely the Javalina then.
The other name for them is Peccaries, and they do look a lot like that image.
Good catch (20 characters)
Ok my man, then what do YOU propose we do for the 60th, 61st, and 62nd unique units so they have something that doesn’t make them just another Tarkan or Teutonic Knight or Janissary? I’m ALL ears.
???
Im literally pointing that some of rhe units the devs have made for this DLC DONT need gimmicks to be good and unique
I can’t find a monkey. Could you post a screenshot section?
No need to be rude, there are more than enough people like that on the forum.
Ok so what do they need then? Not everything is a “gimmick” just because it’s different than what came before.
Appears in the scene with the other animals, you have to see it in motion.

If they are indeed Javelinas, I wonder whether they wil still provide the same amount of food as Boars, now that they are significantly smaller.
The historical background information given for each unit in the post reminds me of the descriptions they used to provide with the manuals of AoE1 and AoE2 (like the Militia below). I wish this would be revived as an in-game feature.
Really interested to see Champi Warrior. It is available in Dark Age and also the scout. Hopefully devs didn’t fail the balance.
Good eye.Looks like its something similar to the panda thingy.
I think these mechanics exist almost entirely for marketing reasons, not for gameplay. It makes the unique units sound new and exciting in the promotional materials, and from a marketing person’s point of view, that’s the most important thing.
Similarly, the new civs all have two unique units because it makes the DLC look better value for money. It was similar in The Conquerors – the devs recycled a joke cheat unit into the petard to boost the number of new units they could advertise.
This isn’t specific to games either – basically all commercial software nowadays is packed with unnecessary features.
I find this argument really funny. You’re effectively admitting that the only good thing about these mechanics is that they make the new unique units obviously different from existing units. Surely that’s a point against them, not in their favour.
Yes, this is much more interesting than the fact that it can build outposts.
Sabotoures appear in the scenarios too,I doubt they were a joke unit.
