Ancient Friends

Oh it is for fall yes. AoE 1 bday…

But it seems very strange to redo an AoE 1 event in 2023 as ‘Ancient Friends’, perhaps that will be AoM…

I hope we get AoM info very soon lol

In DoI a civ such as Gurjaras isn’t much known to most people outside of India so sales don’t matter.

Just because we have those 3 doesn’t mean this game needs to add AoE1 civs, that’s what AoE1 is for.

@Siegelad4112 I think a closer read of this thread and others would explain in great detail the limitations of AOE engine and highlight the enthusiasm of many active forum members for an AoE type port or content expansion that is properly supported.

Or it will be AOE1 & AOE2 collab as some AOE1 fans wishes.

Would they announce a simple event where you just unlock some skins a year in advance?

I assumed the Fall one was AoM but seem like I was wrong.
Maybe we’ll hear something AoM related anyway independent of that.

I don’t think the 2023 one is AoM related. They wouldn’t have used “Ancient” and also the “Invite” implies more and it also implies that it’s directly AoE2 related and not something outside of it.

Unless it’s “Invite AoM to the Definitive Edition family” but then it would make no sense in the AoE2 roadmap.

It’s really hard to tell what it could mean, many possibilities. Maybe they will announce it this year.

Just possibilities. Expending the scope of AoE2 would expend the possibilities.
The clear separation between Antiquity and Middle Ages is a very Wester European idea. Even in Eastern Europe you have the continuation of the Byzantine Empire. Beyond Persia things are even less impacted. Persia in AoE2 is already kinda modelled after pre-Islamic Persia.

3 Kingdoms China would be one candidate for 1/3 Civilisations that would probably actually be popular.

But the Roman Empire probably has the most fanboys.

Maybe it’s time to tear down the borders between AoE1 and AoE2.
Let The Coming of the Huns actually be Huns and not Yamato.

well they would do a cross over event like they did with AoE3 DE and AoE4

100% Agree. “[MS], tear down this wall!!” Lol

May I interest you in Roman vs Huns?

Also, Goths and Celts were pretty influential in the Early Middle Ages. The Huns weren’t though

There are plenty of fanboys of the Roman Empire, as there are people who’d LOVE to have Armenians and Georgians and having even more African or Asian civs

In fact it is 20 years of AoM (it came out in 2002) and 25 of the entire saga…

My dude stop spamming replies!

Unrelated but I’ve seen people replying to multiple posts in one post. How do you do that?

You mean by pinging the poster like this @CanineCrown7153, or quoting their post like this?

For the latter, just drag over the text you want to quote, and press the quote option that shows up. You can also press Q after highlighting the text to quote.

I have seen this multiple times myself but was too foolish to ask. A toast to someone who asked.

Well I don’t think we will be seeing a release of AoM but i highly suspect a reveal, for a release next E3 in June, and it will be the ‘Ancient Friend’ thing.

After we get through the Definitive Editions for the three here, and 4 is kind of rolling, then we’re going to look back and see what we can do with Myth. Because I love Myth, we’re not going to leave it behind, we’ll figure out what to do with it then.”

After 4 is rolling, and based on what is going on in #age-of-empires-iv:age-of-empires-iv-discuss , it looks like it is

The forums have a tutorial when a user first joins that explains it all.
