Yes, that is, it is roadmap for aoe 2 DE, there are no secret clues about the other aoe, it does not make sense…
Yes, the war in antiquity was mainly fought by the infantry, the cavalry began to be more important already in the Middle Ages, until the gunpowder returned to ponder the infantry …
Absolutely. AoE3 already has African civs but it could need more.
AoE3 is also better at representing none European civilisations. AoE2 doesn’t even get the skin colour correct. You have white skinned European clothes units for every civilisation.
No.
Every civilisation is designed around a certain time frame. Like China is before the Mongol Invasion that’s why China has no gunpowder.
Persia is the Sassanid Empire and not Islamic Persia because that would be after the AoE2 timeframe.
Japan goes into the Sengoku period and after that there is only isolation anyway.
So if one civilisation has a different time frame that doesn’t mean the other ones have to change.
AoE was always like that. AoE1 already had civilisations like Summerians and Yamato that were 1000 years apart. AoE2 did the same with civilisations like Huns and Aztecs.
AoE3 with Aztecs and Lakota.
Only AoE4 only has civilisations that existed at the same time, for now.
Streltsy are already a lot more modern then Hand Cannons though (that could be easily fixed by just changing the model to an Arquebsier for the other civilisations).
Are you on mobile or something like that?
It’s absolutely trivial to reply to multiple people on PC.
Just select the text and press Quote and start typing.
Yes, in addition AoM DE would announce it at Gamescon and would not be giving clues in a roadmap of aoe 2, if they would not do the same in the roadmap of aoe 3 and yet they do not do it…
In that case, maybe you should enroll in some more university courses.
No thanks, I already have enough with the university…xd
Make the text and click on Quote and you’re quoting people. Super easy and it’s a lot nicer to read because we directly know what you are replying to. This also works on mobile.
People don’t like reading your posts because they look bad so they automatically start with negative emotions when reading it.
That means people are less likely to agree with you and they are more likely to have a negative view of what you are writing.
You don’t want people to ignore your posts, right?
I mean I guess I partially agree with the general idea here, but your examples are a bit off…
Chinese get Bombard Towers. I’m pretty sure their lack of Hand Cannoneer and Bombard Cannon is a balance decision rather than anything else. Their Wonder was built in the Ming Dynasty, after Mongol rule had ended.
Persians get Hand Cannoneer and Bombard Cannon, which the Sassanids obviously didn’t have. Persia came under Islamic rule in the 7th Century, so clearly within the AoE2 timeframe.
Not sure what “goes into” is supposed to mean here, but the only specifically Sengoku-period thing about Japanese is that they get is Hand Cannoneer. Samurai existed before the Sengoku period, and the Japanese Wonder is from the much earlier Nara period (8th Century). The period of isolation is irrelevant since it’s from outside the AoE2 timeframe.
ok there might be better examples out there. I can’t remember what civilisation has access to what units because there are 42 of them now.
It’s probably the other way round.
Nearly every civ gets Cannon Galleons for example.
China was originally planned to be called Sung during development, which explains why they barely have any gunpowder units.
The historical missions.
And everyone always only associates Japan with that period.
Even in games like Ghost of Tushima everything looks like Sengoku period Japan and not Medieval Japan.
People don’t want Medieval Japan in a Medieval game because they know nothing about history.
Even the simple fact that Japan is an infantry civilisation makes little sense for Medieval Japan.
At last they get all the Cavalry Archer upgraded.
No we’ll get the same Japan in AoE4 again most likely because that’s what sells. Basically the same Japan as AoE3 essentially.
Gunpowder weapons in the Song Dynasty were very rich…
It was the northern peoples including the Mongols who learned their gunpowder technology.
Fair enough. I think the best example is probably Spanish, who are pretty solidly 16th Century, despite their 11th Century campaign. It seems to have been a conscious decision too, given that they were given Conquistadors in favour of Genitours.
I’d also include Turks, Koreans, and Britons: Turks are essentially Ottomans, Koreans are based on the Choson Dynasty (admittedly, rather loosely), and Britons are late 13th Century onwards (sans gunpowder). The Wonders for Spanish, Koreans and Britons don’t really fit this hypothesis, although they are all sort of nonsensical anyway…
Samurai purely as sword-wielding infantry is weird for any era. On the other hand, they’d have been ridiculously OP as an armoured mounted longbowman! But I think they would work better as a mounted unit – history aside, it would help them fulfill their supposed role as a counter to unique units.
Kinda ironic that AoE1 Yamato is better at depicting Medieval Japan then AoE2 Japan.
Another reason why a crossover between AoE1 and AoE2 could make sense.
Interesting, what makes you say that? The cavalry bonus? To me, cheaper cavalry suggests a culture where non-nobles often fought on horseback (e.g. Huns, who get some of that bonus in AoE2), but I don’t think that was true in Japan.
Yes pretty much.
Yamato is Early Medieval Japan.
AoE2 Japan is Early Modern Japan.
It’s a bit to modern in both games.
A Hybrid AoE1/AoE2 campaign with mixed civilisations would make sense for a Japanese campaign and would make things more interesting tbh.
Blockquote Ok, something like this?..
It happens that I am not used to writing in forums or even in discord…I barely use the whatsapp xd…
Of course, in addition to the fact that from the seventeenth century onwards it is territory and warfare from aoe 3, it would not make sense to put it in aoe 2, since it would not adapt well … although I saw a mod that adapts it quite well…
Of course, plus cannons or even an explorer would sweep away any infantry civ… plus it would be necessary to see if batch creation and the abilities of native units and Asian wonders would be allowed or not…
Finally, thank you. That’s so much more readable for everyone.
Well have patience please xd…
Regarding historical missions, sure Kyoto is part of the Sengoku Jidai (just like Noryang Point), but Kurikara takes place during the Genpei War, which is far earlier.
