Ancient Friends

That was posted earlier in this thread.

I assumed they’d make an AoM even in Fall but I guess I was wrong.

They teased the roadmap for 7 months?
Or what do you mean?

For some American Civs there might be though.
A lot of North Americans encountered the horse before they met any Europeans because some horses escaped from European Settlements and the plains were a perfect environment for them (because horses actually originated in North America but went extinct 10000 years ago.)
Having something like the Seven Fires civilisation with cavalry but no gunpowder could work in AoE2.

But maybe that’s what So, you liked Dynasties of India? We’re taking notes… implies.
They want to flash out other regions to by giving them regional units (like the Elephant Archers) and more civilisations.
So maybe America, Africa or East Asia?

On one hand that’s good because it gives you another chance to unlock them if you haven’t already.
But I sure hope that’s not all.
There is also Something different and unknown… we can look forward to.

I’m still waiting for this busy 2022 we were promised. so far 2021 gave us more content then 2022.

If they make a second DLC this year it’d be more, right?
The last DLC had more content then each 2 ones before.

Maybe they are very busy working on things that are not released yet.
Not everything always goes as planned. It rarely does.

Last year also brought co-op campaigns into the game so not exactly.

very busy has become very unbusy. that’s far more then just “didn’t go as planned” its a complete trainwreck.

Wait for next week.
Next week is gamescom and there is a good chance they’ll announce something there. Unless they want to fucus on AoE4 only.
The last DLC is already a few months ago so it’d be time to announce the next one soon.

2022 has been pretty busy regarding tournaments at least, especially with Red Bull on the horizon. Don’t remember what it referred to, perhaps it took tournaments into account? This year is a busier Red Bull after all.

Didn’t they say they’re going to reveal something there? Probably for AoE4, but who knows. Would be very fun if it was AoM:DE there.

You don’t need to unlock those old event mods. They can be downloaded directly or via the AOE website.

For some American Civs there might be though.

Plains Native Americans with cavalry are outside the timeline though. Age of Empires III is the place for them.

From the announcement of road map to actually release it. Yes it took 7 months.

My suggestion from another thread was to extend the limit to a maximum of 1650, because of campaigns. The comment you and @UpmostRook9474 replied to was just to explain my logic of being against adding ancient civs but in favor of “modern” civs, (as shown in the link, the Middle Ages of other regions are different from European MA). I don’t intend to mix aoe3 with aoe2.

Honestly this is just to hype people up and will probably be a big NOTHING!!

You’d have to add muskeets and more gunpowder artillery

Exactly. Just a mod to have some unit reskin.

While it’s just speculation at this stage, it would make a lot of sense to have an “ancient civilization” game mode in AoE 2. This would allow the devs to further milk aoe 2 while at the same time bringing forward entirely new civilizations and game mechanics. They can also potentially recycle a lot of assets from AoE 1 DE, which makes the development cheaper and faster. Of course, I am assuming that this is something different from straight AoE 1 gameplay-wise, otherwise it would not make sense. Time will tell.

Not for the peoples I suggested (Africans and Native Americans). They acquired some guns and cannons, but their fighting was mostly medieval. That is, it would not change anything in the game mechanics, it would only serve to facilitate the inclusion of campaigns.

But in the end it’s just a suggestion and there are ways around it.

Yes, but if they fight against Europeans, you’ll have to add more gunpowder units for, well, Europeans

No you don’t.
The Huns don’t turn into a 1500 AD civ when the fight the Spanish and the Bengali also still roll out their ancient Chariots.

These are well represented in AoE3.
We don’t need Africans and Americans in 1650 in AoE2.

Maybe I didn’t express myself too well. If we extend the timeline, Spanish, Franks, English, Persians, Turks, Japanese and others would need muskeets and more gunpowder artillery

Yes I know, but it is more comfortable for me to answer like this, if I do not make a mess with the answers, also if I would not have to send a will to answer a single message, and the idea is lost if not xd…
