Some great changes, mostly the QoL stuff. Since this is a Chinese-themed update, I kinda hoped they’d make the Porcelain Tower scale alongside age. Or even an Export/XP trickle option but that might be too much since they already provide a tiny trickle when configured to produce all types of resources.
That aside, I wish they’d be slightly less vague with their “on the horizon” stuff. I (we) want to know more already!
I feel pessimistic. They said that there’s plenty of stuff for Aoe II HD in the last patch, but seems that the support to aoe3 DE seems going down, at least on the content side (QoL, bugs and improving stability seems on the roadmap)
Even they changed news for a community tab (IDK if that is important but maybe it’s a clue of that direction)
Thank you for this epic event, Chinese cultural event, this is brilliant. I wish we had the same kind of cultiral/civ events for DE2 as well. De2 Events usually suck. Completely void of imagination and vision.
Please go aid the DE2 devs and show them how to make proper events.
(And please someone ,give us more content / improvements for DE1 as well. Events, more civs and regional unit skins please)

Yeah the update itself is great but it would be nice to be reassured more content is coming in 2022 other than what we’ve known for months.
I have to say that the past and current support is great, BTW.
I hope for adding Moroccans civ for African Royal’s DLC owners!

That news tab was almost entirely useless before, this was a very good change.
I can finally see the units behind the obstacles. Although I configured it to the maximum it was not possible before.
The map list loads faster now.
Fix the mayan holcan warrior animation so that he attacks buildings with torches and not with his spears.
I would also like for this year to give the option of having the graphic resolution of the legacy game for those of us who have an acceptable PC or for those who are nostalgic.

The changes to china are quite underwhelming imo, the new consulate card is nice but apart from that most of the others aren’t great like the flamethrower and castle cards, it’s nice to get a flying crow in age 3 though.

Yep. That what was I wrote in a random topic, I would’ve designed other card effects too.
Only the consulate card, Flying Crow and the Iron Trooper (IV) cards are worth it. Most of them feels like a celebration for the Year of the Tiger only ( pet tigers? Really?) but the artwork rocks.
At least they improved the Flamethrower cards by adding a Castle!
If they fix Portugal, than I will love the devs. good patch.
So the steam store description changed from this:

Very low fps when i update this patch.Before install this patch i have 75fps.after install it i have only 30fps
i hope this issue will been processed as soon as possible.
Well with all the new content and patches the description is not really up to date anymore. Probably it also changed to promote the game.
Very interesting additions to China with Tea Export. I feel like the other cards introduced are lackluster with the exception perhaps of the implementation of Iron Troop card (edit: scratch that, I’ve been using it and they feel like almost the same)
What I missed China-wise:
Porcelain tower being able to be tasked on export and maybe even xp.
Flamethrower range and or/speed buffed, they get easily kited and lose vs units they are meant to counter.
White Pagoda is still not attractive: (unlock through White Pagoda) Allow them to SNARE, add a stick/spear to disciples, give them a multiplier vs cav so they have a synergized and and more defined new role, removed negative multiplier vs vills, perhaps add 10% resist or speed buff (you are paying for access to a proper unit after all beyond pet role).
For Asian civs: Give some kind of access to Age V mercs, improve Sumptuary Laws
I don’t know about anybody else but the enemy AI on hard difficulty is so good half my games end up in stalemates that I then resign after playing too long. Everytime I attack an enemy base their allies come swarming and none of my allies come to help (they always decline when asked even though they have armies camped out in their base)
The enemy AI has dialed it up a notch for sure, whether that is a good thing or not remains to be seen. Not really having much fun playing stalemates. The allied AI is still useless.
