Any hints for "Porto" AOE2 DLC?

That’s true, at least that money goes to maintain the games servers…

Many things could be done with Africa. Nubians and Somalis may be the most relevant countries to add at the moment, and they are not exactly south. I would love to see something be done for the Bantu, though, mostly Swahilis, Kongolese and Shonas. And there are countless interesting factions in West Africa too!

Tibetans are unlikely, but Jurchens are less problematic. As far as I know, there is no call for independance or even increased autonomy in Manchuria nowaday, and a dlc for a game won’t change that. I think a dlc with Jurchens and Tanguts is relatively likely, both of those people appear on Gengis’ mission “Into China” together with an actual Han Chinese faction with the Songs.

Of course, that would be the idea…

they should really think about bundling all those together and reducing the cost to get people to consider it. I’ve been turned away from such games in the past because i see the absurd number of DLCs. 385$ for it all on steam atm, no thanks.

Yes, at least from the establishment of the Tang dynasty, then we would have a campaign of the seventh century (which we have none in that century) or of the Song dynasty then we would have another campaign of the tenth century (contemporaneous to that of Judith), because Yuan we already have the campaign of Genghis Khan in aoe 2 and the Mongolian one in aoe 4 and Ming we already have Poyang Lake…

Yes, that is true, in fact the Goths have access to the gunpowder, since in Crimea they lasted until the eighteenth century, but yes… the Goths should have come out in aoe 1, not in aoe 2… or at least have a campaign of Theodoric the Great, that yes it would be a campaign in the Middle Ages, not like that of Alaric…

Yes, in addition aoe 2 is more popular and an expansion of medieval Eastern Europe with Poles and Bohemians has more commercial circulation, than an African expansion of a colonial game that few play… you have to accept reality as it is and now… aoe 3 players have to dance with the ugliest girl…

Theodoric and Alaric weren’t that far apart and it still wouldn’t change the fact that the civ makes no sense.

I’ve seen that comment before and it doesn’t the AoE2 civ make sense.
Goths are Italian, Spainish, Crimean all at the same time, with a Scandinavian UU.
That’s crystal clear.
That image and the Crimean factoid doesn’t really change what I wrote in my original post.

Unreleated but please stop using so many ellipses, they’re unnecessary.

Sweden is a kingdom that existed in the sixteenth century, so no…

Almost… it was devapala…

In fact the British Raj was created from the Indian Mutiny (act III:India in aoe 3 tad), so this dlc and the Babur campaign would actually be the prequel to the prequel xd…

Now that India has received some love, it’s high time to some love Africa!

There aren’t enough African civs in AoE 2 DE, so I think the African continent should get 2 new big DLCs:

  • South African DLC - Congolese, Bantu, Somalis + a completely new architectural set for Congolese and Bantu civs (South African set); and completely new architectural set for Ethiopians and Somalis civs (Eastern African set)

  • Sultans of the Sahara DLC - Mamelukes, Kanem, Songhai (or Fulani, Hausa, Ghanaians)

The African architecture set would be renamed the Sahel / or Western African architecture set. That set would include: Mali, Kanem and one of these civs - Songhai, Fulani, Hausa or Ghanaians. Mamelukes civ would have the Middle Eastern architecture set.

African sets

Eastern African set

  1. Ethiopians

  2. Somalis [New civ]

Middle Eastern set (counting the whole set after the reorganization)

  1. Berbers

  2. Mamelukes [New civ] (replace Persians civ who would receive Central Asian architecture set)

Non-African civs in Middle Eastern set:

  1. Saracens

  2. Turks

South African set

  1. Congolese [New civ]

  2. Bantu [New civ]

Sahel / or Western African architecture set

  1. Mali

  2. Kanem [New civ]

  3. Songhai, Fulani, Hausa or Ghanaians [New civ]

We would have a total of 9 African civs in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition… still few, but 9 civs are better than just 3 civs.

Let us enjoy the new civs and campaigns first
After 6 months we can start asking/requesting/demanding the new DLC
You are killing the hype of the new DLC even before its release

I stare at the umpteenth post demanding Armenians and Georgians/Caucasus DLC : )

All great suggestions, despite not being my preferences. I still hope they have interesting bonuses and campaigns like the new Indian civs do tho!

Even without going North of Mexico, the Inca campaign features tons of possible South American civs and Central America is far from being done.

Perfect occasion to make a Maya campaign too.

Mamelukes are the Saracen unique unit, though.

BTW if we’re on the topic of next DLC theme already (quite early tbh), the devs should probably focus on Africa and America in any order considering those are the most popular picks right now:

why was the poll closed so early
