Why would they do such an intricate background (let alone the detailed face painting art) & not have an equivalent building in the works?
Compared to the other dlcs box art buildings do show up in the background but not this much details on them.so this could just be an art they made for the italian event.
We got the Burgundians. That was the response to people wanting a Dutch and/or Flemish civilization. People south of the rivers still call themselves “Bourgondisch” after all. The whole Flemish revolution tech and the militia with the goedendag, that was for us.
I don’t object to the inclusion of the Burgundians. There were a lot of Westernish European civs already, but with how big the differences had grown between the old style and new style civilizations I’d say it was justified to revisit the region.
But any more Dutch civs? Between the Franks (Aachen sits almost a literal stone’s thrown away from our border), the Burgundians, as you yourself mentioned the Teutons and the Celts (although that’s more Roman era Celts) there are more or less 4 civs that can to some extent count as Dutch. At the current point more of those sounds more like mod work. Could be cool, like an “Age of Provinces” mod or something, with the Frisians fighting Holland and Brabant. With the semi-recent tool that allows for pick and mix-plug and play civ development it’d be pretty easy to get some sort of a start to the project going.
But, like, you know, developers, maybe a second Indian civ before a fifth Dutch one? Or something from the Southern half of Africa maybe?
Meanwhile, the devs are rolling on the floor laughing ![]()
I would suppose that the Venetian event comes soon but has nothing to do with the upcoming DLC, about which we do not know anything in fact.
But to fuel further speculations:
What features from the UserPatch are still missing?
Ability to add civilizations is one.
True, but the Franks only stayed here. The Batavians are the subgroup of the Frisians.
I guess Teutons fits best, for the defensive upgrades, the cheap swampy farms in the west/south, and the Teutonic knight finishs it off.
Forgetting that Cats were also popular in Europse feels as if the devs are hinting that Europe has had too much attention lately and this is why they only chose these 3 Topics/Places. What got me excited is the name of the Song dynasty in China. Which is exciting, I’d love to see a Song Dynasty based Civ. Specially since they are somewhat responsible for Gunpowder but Chinese have no gunpowder based bonus or even hand cannoneer. But as someone stated above I’m as clueless as everyone else in this forum.
How are they not chinese ?
Well they are, but Chinese doesn’t have any specific gunpowder based bonuses. Just stating what I found interesting. I just want some news for the upcoming DLC ;-;
When I type " medieval cat" on YouTube I find numerous videos that describe how europe hated cats a lot and did a lot of disturbing acts on them. Maybe they are all wrong? I don’t know.
Why are you so triggered though? Every part of the world had some favourite and dreaded animal.
Compared to the other box art, it looks very low quality and doesnt fit Venice historicamly.
And honestly if women had little chance of holding power on a monarchy its even worse in a case of a republic
Tell this Angela Merkel.
Modern republics are a diferent thing. Im talking about the Venetian one
This is assuming one civi is venice. Besides LotW box art also had a female character without being in the campaign.
The Carnival was in Venice. Masks dont make sense otherwise
I think this woman was Jacqueline of Hainault, who does appear in the campaign, even if only for 2 scenarios.
The female character from the LoTW box art is Jacqueline of Hainaut, she’s one of the antagonists in the Burgundians campaign.
So the queen with the mask could also be like that?
Masks are from Venice. Venice has no monarchy. How does that make any sense? And again, the art isnt as high quality
