Concerned AoE3 posters, consider this.
You may look at the AoE2 patch notes, and seem there’s some fixes for the Xbox version in every patch.
But in fact, the Xbox version have been suffering issues like below since launch:
-
Can’t upgrade to units like Siege Elephant & Elite Shrivamsha Rider.
-
Castles can’t fire at walls.
(EDIT: it’s been pointed out that a dev post confirmed that the Xbox Castles’ inability to attack walls is intended behavior, without clarifying why.)
These are severe problems that directly impact PvP gameplay. Were they to occur in AoE2DE for PC, they would be fixed by a hotfix in one week, or in the patch right next month.
Instead, they have been logged but unfixed for more than one year now.
Similarly, consider the AoE2DE scenario making community - scenario related bugs (that also affect official campaigns) tend to go unfixed for half a year.
Compare the situation to AoE3, and think about why it is that way.
What is it that makes some parts of the franchise supported with one-week hotfixes, some having to wait for six months, and some never fixed over 4 years?
