Well when i noticed on youtube DE was coming , i signed up instantly. And now thinking i had thrown away my old memories of the gold edition. i took a sneak peek in my game cupboard and i found it, all the years later, survived a house move. Bring on the good old days. 
Playing sometimes, but more AoE II and III with friends on Steam 
Still have all original games on disk.
Still play AoE Gold edition sometimes. Recently me and a friend were able to get online play working and we spent quite a few hours playing against the AI. AoE 1 is a timeless game. No matter what games get released in the future, I will still play it.
Downloaded UPatch so that the game didnât look like a muddy mess on my 1440p screen and havenât stopped playing it. Still getting used to no building waypoints.
Iâve just installed it and the Upatch.

With Windows 10, the game hang for a couple of seconds during gameplay, but after I installed userpatch, The game is working fine and with the right resolution that finally fills the whole screen.
Is that when the music changes track? I get a slight pause as well on WIN 10.

Going through ROR campaings right now. Never quite got the time to complete them back in the day when ROR came out and then I got hooked on Red Alert 2, so theyâve got a really fresh feel to me. Running the Gold edition with UPatch on Win7 is no big deal - didnât have to adjust anything apart from the resolutionâŚ

I believe UPatch solves this, I recall having the same problem on track changes on Win 7 w/o Upatch. That might be the reason whu UPatch uses a single mp3 file for all the tracks instead of separate ones - there was a quesion about this somewhere else in this forum.
Yep I had the urge to play it after I hard about the re-make of aoe. I searched the whole house for it 2 weeks ago thinking maybe the wifey trashed it, but to my surprise I found both aoe1 and ror and all my aoe3s

I bought a copy of AoE Gold Edition at my local games store a few days ago, am going to install it next thing I do after posting this. Itâll be my first ever look at the Age of Empires franchise, and it is what guided my web searches to the forum. I am looking forward to playing for a few hours a week.
