I think disabling trebs (and perhaps bbc) on campaigns can be a good idea if the objective is to destroy a specific building. The AI is easy to distract so you can complete such missions by rolling in with 10 trebs and instantly nuking whatever you need to take out. Examples are the Nobunaga mission (green has 3 castles, just send in some light cav or something and then deploy trebs) or Hastings (just roll in with a bunch of trebs, one shot the castle, win)
What else is new?
What else is new?
No. many a peoples complain that Lithuania is OP (I couldn’d care less since I don’t play MP)
Lithuanian so called ‘’ Identity’’ : Cav + monks.
They will still have their strong cav LITIS AND CAVALIER with the +1 attack per relic bonus.
If they retain the strongest Paladin in game + Relic bonus and gain added Winged Hissars + Relic bonus… what do YOU think the poeple whom love to complain will do?
Sorry but it is you who demands one change after another now that poles will come to the game.
Poles should have the best cav lines in the game…
Poles should be the only ones with wings…
Lith should basically lose their identity because of poles in the game…
Only to list a few.
Please stop that. There will be 39 civs in the game, poles aren’t any different in that regard. No civ is more “worthy” than any other one.
There is a difference between demanding and making a suggestion for the sake of converstation and enjoyment of a subject that draws us all here whlist under lockdown.
Why would you wanty that?
They had good cavalry but their infantry and crossbowmen were more than capable.
When I think of civs that had the best cavalry I immediately think about the Franks with their excillent knights such as the Templars and Hospitilars.
Ofcourse , there is no other cavlary unit in history that had this trait, it doesn’t bother me that Poland is not exclusive enough to only have this, it bothers me to play as the Chinese or the Turks or the Berbers and then to see there cav have illfitting wings.
I want Lithuania to get a Infantry boost because I was in Lithuania, I stood atop the steap inclines of the hills surrounting Vilnius, at most of their battlies they used the hilly terain , fending off attacks from Teutonic knights and Tartars by means of well positioned infantry guarding the hilltops with castles (Hense why they have the Hill fort uniqe tech).
I completely agree with you, there is not one civ in this game that I do not find facinating , whos history captivates me and whose cultures and tacticks I don’t want to see displaied as best as possible in game for all to enjoy.
Your antagonism perplexes me sir.
I dunno. Maybe it was PUP for chosen Insiders who tested new patch notes with new civilizations. Patch notes also suggests that some random maps got updated to contain new terrain and new trees from Dawn of the Dukes ( like new Birch wood ).
This is discription of Poles, it is pretty much underwhelming, but it is what it is. But to the point - It highly suggest that Polish militiary in AoE II is focused around begining of 16th century. So it historically explains why Poles lack Paladins. From balance reason I think they just wanted to focus Polish civilization around Hussars to make them distinctive from Lithuanians. It would be amazing if Poles had good archers and Obuch instead of ignoring armor, had ability to removes armor. It would great and fun combo to play.
But anyway I’m really happy and can’t wait to get new expansion. Maybe Poles lack Paladin, but they seems to have great unique technologies for Knight line ![]()
Right, It could be it. But first mission is called “The One-Eyed Warderer”. Tittle suggest that Jan Zizka already lost his first eye, so I believe his campaign begin after battle of Grunwald, but we will see ![]()
My overview of Polish campaign: Jadwiga.
1. The Matter of the Crown.
Probably scenario where Polish nobles from Lesser and Great Poland argue who will become King of Poland. So probably we will play as Lesser Poland knights and we will have to defeat knights from Great Poland to bring Polish throne to Jadwiga.
2. Star of Poles.
Jadwiga is crowned as a king of Poland. At this time, Hungarian rebels kidnapped her mother. Jadwiga decided to led Polish forces to Galicia. So probably mission against Magyars.
3. Duel of the Dukes.
Oh boy. There were many wars between Lithuanian duke Jogaila and his brothers. Probably story focused around Union of Krevo. Jogaila became king of Poland and got name - Władysław Jagiełło.
4. Siege of Vilnius.
The gameplay of this scenario is already in trailer. Teutonic Order launched another campaign on Lithuania. German knights decided to strike Vilnius. We have to come to rescue Vilnius.
5. Vytautas’ Crusade
It is easy. Battle of the Vorskla River. Yes, Vytautas’ was duke of Lithuania and it was his campaign, but since Polish knights were huge part of his forces, it makes sense. It was huge battle and defeat of Polish-Lithuanian alliance. It is mission where Poles with Lithuanian allies fight againsts hordes of Tartars.
6. The Fruits of Her Labor
Ofcourse, the Fruits of Jadwigas reign was powerfull Polish-Lithuania alliance and preparation to war with Teutonic Order. It’s finally it - Battle of Grunwald. I really hope in this battle pop cap will be increased to more than 200.
Ornlu kinda hinted that on his video.
The only reason could be balance reasons, but if this means that the Poles won’t have a strong cavalry I will be seriously disappointed.
But it seems like they want to offset this lack of Paladins with 2 cavalry bonusses for them, allowing their Hussars to possibly be the best in game (would make sense) - which means they’d lack bonusses elsewhere though.
Cos they made a dumb choice making Lithuanians have the best paladins in the game and deciding to add Poles after that. Should have just added Poles since the beggining or something like that
Sometimes their decisions were questionable. Clearly they didn’t want to add the Commonwealth, only being a post-medieval thing. But most people were surprised they added Lithuanians over Poles.
Now they are giving them both the “Winged” Hussars as if timeframe didn’t matter. I guess this happens with inconsistent unit type choices, but that’s been there from the start.
I’m happy the Poles are now clearly represented, just wish they’d design both civs to represent themselves truthfully.
Can’t they swap to give Lithuanians Cavalier to offset their relic bonus & give Paladins to Poles?
Otherwise they really mean medium cavalry with only Cavalier. I guess we’ll just have to wait what the civ bonuses are…
Poles will have blast damage on cavaliers, so them getting Paladins would be really unbalanced
I guess, but would it be as strong as Cataphracts?
Stronger I would say. While Catas have some important advantages, they still have less hp, a far lower attack and very bad pierce armour as well as being limited by castles for production
You do not have to forget too that building from stables is way easier than from castles.
Honestly, I’d really like FU paladins to be rare.
Another civ with another FU paladin is a bit boring.
While it 100% makes sense for Poles to get paladin in a historical perspective, from a gameplay perspective I’m glad they don’t get paladin.
That way they can add interesting bonuses to their cavalry that won’t become OP (potentially).
My speculation on how the civs will look like
Bohemians
:
- Free Gold Mining (Malian bonus replaced by 30% longer lasting Gold mines)
- Hand cannonner available in Castle Age. Doesn’t require chemistry
- Monks have +1/+2 range in Castle Age/Imperial Age
Team Bonus: Monks regenerate Faith faster
Castle UT: Wagenburg Tactics: Hussite Wagons get an additional projectile and move slightly faster
Imperial UT: Hussite Reform: Replaces gold cost of Monk with food. Monks are built 50% faster.
Poles ![]()
- Can build Folwarks which boost gather rate of nearby farmers and foragers (max 1 tile away) by 20%
- Get access to the Winged Hussar
- Stone mines last 30 % longer
- Light Cavalry and Winged Hussar upgrade costs no gold
Castle UT: Szlachta Privileges: Light cavalry regenerates health slowly
Imperial UT: Lechitic Legacy: Cavalry units do blast damage
Team Bonus: Light cavalry upgrades researched faster
I know. Shouldn’t be in game, there are plenty of others united they could have used. Tech wise, it does work. I have more issue with common use of fire ships and Mesoamerican navy. It’s a game spanning 400-1550’s tech, playability vs historical accuracy
What’s the historical link between Poles and stone mining?
My guess is that Poles is given free stone mining techs (from footage), but I don’t recall Poles being known for stone mining. Saltmines perhaps, but not really known for
