AOE IV 8.1.185.0 Hard Crash Bugsplat Error

I was playing a custom multiplayer game (2 AI vs. 2 human players) on the Windows Store version of AOEIV on a Windows 11 device, and about an hour or so into the game, AOE IV hard crashed and just disappeared – no warning behaviors such as lagging or freeze-ups, and no error messages. I looked in my computer’s Event Viewer logs and found an entry that appears to be related, with the error message BugSplat-worldsedge_cardinal-release_8_1_0_RTM_Gaming.Desktop.x64.

[/quote]You experienced a sudden crash while playing Age of Empires IV on the Windows Store version, running on Windows 11. The crash generated an error message, “BugSplat-worldsedge_cardinal-release_8_1_0_RTM_Gaming.Desktop.x64,” which suggests a crash report was created. To address this, update both the game and your system, ensure your drivers are up to date, check your hardware for issues, verify game files, and contact official support if the problem persists.

I have the below config, but I am still getting an error. Please helppp

Same problem. Crashes in the middle of the game. That sucks

Hi, I was having the same issue and same error code.

I tried everything but nothing worked. It let me to believe it’s due to frametime issue where it is too unstable (as that’s what i was seeing on my frametime). To fix this, you need to limit your FPS in the game to an amount where you get a flat line on the frametime " For example, I have a 34" ultrawide monitor with 3440 x 1440 resolution and the monitor has 175 hertz, so i always had my fps limit at 175. BUT, because I have the graphics on almost max, even though I have a 4090 and a i7 13700k, it’s still giving me jumpy frames, meaning it goes from 175 fps to 120 fps and back to 175 fps, this will cause big stutters in the game and for some reason the game crashes when there are big stutters. I tried lowering the graphics and i didnt crash anymore, so that’s an option. but because this is not a first person shooter game, i limited my FPS to 150 and kept my graphics the way they were and I am also no longer crashing.

You can either lower graphics, or limit fps.

To limit FPS, i use the Riva Tuner that comes with MSI afterburner software.

Hope this helps.

For now the trick with limiting the fps works. I limited the fps to 60 by nvidia system control panel and disabled v-sync. I dont know how many fps I have in the game without limiting. Specs are gf3080 and Ryzen 7 5800X, 32gb

Glad i could help. Let me know if it crashes on you. Depending on your resolution, you might be able to increase that a bit. You can add the frametime using MSI afterburner to to see at what FPS cap you start getting the flat line on frametime.

Same problem. I have a RTX 3070 Ti and a Ryzen 5900x, all ultra settings at 1440p. The game seems to crash when there is a lag spike. My frame rate was already capped at 138fps using RTSS. I’ll try capping it lower and check if it works.

Unfortunately the trick with limitting the fps doesn’t help. Its better but it doesn’t solve the problem. It crashed even after the last update of the game. Such a pitty

Capping fps didn’t work for me
The Developers @chelny16 need to add more VERBOSE logs. We are limited to warnings.log which says absolutely nothing.

Hi, I had the same problem, what should I do to help the devs solve? - posted event viewer

The same thing is happening to me. A dev I spoke to mentioned that there should be a fix coming next patch.

Do you know when the patch will be released?

Don’t have any info on that beyond what’s publicly available: late November or early December.

Im having the same exact problem as everyone here. Same error message etc. This is mind blowing to me, when I switched to a different Steam account, I was able to finally launch the game and play, this seems to be related to specific accounts, could be something in the settings.

Same thing happening here. Getting an error _9_1_0_RTM_Gaming.Desktop.x64. A crash report from application release_9_1_0_RTM_Gaming.Desktop.x64 has been successfully logged to www.BugSplat.com as worldsedge_cardinal-888839.

ANY SOLUTIONS???
