hey. exiting to see how germany mercs works. i stopped playing it since pup annouced. but if mercs are not viable, i wont play germany till it gets updated.
German mercs are perfectly viable, all that is getting nerfed is the card being changed that gives them +20% attack and hp so that it gives +15%.
I’m once again asking the devs to change the name of Encomienda Manor.

There are a lot of trivially easy fixes that have been ignored for a very long time. Like updating sacred cows to use the zebu model.
I would ask the same. Apparently, players arguing only use cav to stop Chinacos, and cry about how the miserable 1.2 multiplier makes them “OP”
It’s not that, most people know unit counters. The problem with this cavalry unit is not only is it a lancer type like a naginata but it also beats hussar while both lancers and nagis lose to hussar. Specialized or cheaper cav should always lose to huss. Uhlans are especially good at raiding and killing light inf so they lose to huss same as raiders, cossacks etc.
It’s not good to have a cav unit that not only is better than huss vs infantry and better at raiding due to it having range on it’s melee attack but it also beats hussars as well there needs to be a negative aspect, something it isn’t as good at.
are we talking about pop equivalent? if so raider and cossack rack hussar. are we talking about cost equivalent? if so uhlans rack hussar.
add to this , explain to me why Longbow rack crossbow in both pop and cost? is there a thing call Civ different?
but they didn’t, previously it was X1.25 right so 25X1.25=31.25 with 290 hp
now their multi is X1.20 so 30 atk vs huss with 290hp
even before they lost against the huss because they have 30hp less, only the range is usefull
30 hp less ( huss 320hp ) is a lot in cav wars especially when most of the civ has cav hp in age 2… ( not the case for mexico )
Now concerning treaty i have no idea, prob a treaty change i guess
I wasn’t talking about population efficiency, population matters in treaty or very late game. I’m talking about 1v1 when you have small amounts of cav. Vs germans for example if you do a huss start you will clean up the uhlans that are raiding they can’t fight you head on.
This is how it would play out if you had 1 hussar vs 1 chinaco, so it looks fine on paper however chinacos have melee range so whilst huss are fumbling about trying to be able to path to attack chinacos can attack from 1 row behind. This becomes more prevalent as the mass gets larger, the more cav units the better chinacos perform and the worse huss perform.
Now they lose a bit more which is how it should be when you have a lancer type unit that is also excellent at raiding it should lose vs more general purpose, less specialized cav like huss.
Late game the chinacos also become far better once they get their ability.
ye so this is what i say, its more a treaty change, in sup you never mass 30 chinaco or 30 huss, its always fight of 20 cav max sometimes more but its rare right, i agree with you about the range, but now poor mexico got nerf on pike chinaco nerf, salteador sucks ( IN SUP ), soldadoes sucks cuz its hard to mass early on, ye idk civ is bad i think
in fact their eco is great but their unit are bad early on, mid game this is fine but you can’t survive because as we say chinaco lsoe to huss early on, salteador just sucks because you buy a skirm 60f 60c 17 range ( crossbow kill them… ) and gl making soldadoes you make 1 batch of them opponent already made 2 batch of 5 units so, and pike got nerfed and now they are lot slower at sieging building…
Does it though? stats wise its pretty comparable to the gurkha in age 2 and mexico should have th eco to support production and like the fulani can get 19 range in age 2.
Maybe mexico lacks an easy way to get vet tech with them in age 3 easily but i dont see any particular reason that the mass skirm cav comp that india used to do wont be decent or even mexican skirm goon (with the age up that gives acess to jesuit native tech also giving extra attack as well)
teams do exist too, where the mass of chinaco who can go toe to toe with huss and then if they win clean everything else up was a consistent issue. this is a mode few i think balance for but units like chinacos who can do it all often do break the mould when they can be spammed and fully carded consistently.
also soldados and salties are very solid in teams, i see mexico plenty at the 2k plus team elo so clearly its not bad like team haude or even team italy tends to be. you got alot of crazy options to boost your units here in team supremecy while booming behind with the haciendas.
1v1 mexico seems to be middle of the road but teams its cards (map hacks in team cannot be understated) flexible roster and ability to focus their limited deck is really solid. maybe not french cav level, but few civs are. i find tho people in teams tend to either not revolt and do well, or think 1v1 mindset revolt and not have the eco to keep up. mexican revolts are less op in teams for certain. cept 2v2s where the CA revolt or Baja consistently breaks any sembelance of balance.
tbh though japan have had map hacks since TAD, also through an age up and I dont think its ever been used ( well until recently maybe)
its different when the map hack is age2 provided los boost and then 500xp so its not even that harmful and is paried with the dock card. this was meta for a long time to always open this cause its like virginia plan in that you loose some tempo (less an issue in teams) and get perfect knowledge of opponents openings. i think people usually go for the hacienda boom options on land maps now but water its super solid and give mexico a pocket water boom as well for long age2s so is still seen there or when facing a likely rush

yes cuz 17 range, also gurkhas is 70f 50c right so kinda cheaper with more range and they don’t need a card for 19range…
17 range is also the same as a fulani (getting extra range through upgrade is similar as well) though and I think for the most part it works well enough.
The cost is definitely a bit more gold weighted so naybe not as spammable as the fulani or gurkha
ye so why you compare those unit, this is completely different unit, one is an archer with 1.5 rof 70f 35w and the other a skirm 60f 60c, what ?..
If you play extended age 2 it can be nice to mass those skirms then age up with the state that gives you 1 salteador per shipment sent and the vet upgrade. Also if you do a hacienda boom you can easily afford them as you’ll be on 50 vills by 8 mins something.
