I’m happy for AOE-3, but I feel sad for AOE-4. I envisioned AOE-4 as the most replayable and diverse game in the series when I saw the trailer from 2017. I also thought exploring the map would be highly satisfying assuming it would include a great diversity of detail.
I’m sure that if they hadn’t underestimated the concepts that AOE-3 proposed for the series, AOE-4 would have been very different.
It seems that trying to please the largest community is not the way to go.

Thanks for reminding me, I’ll watch some of it.
I consider AOE-3 to be profitable enough on its own.

I mean, Adam Isgreen was shocked when people suggested a card system for AoEIV. Seems to me they were their own worst enemy by relying too much on the AoE2 crowd and esports. Many of us could have told them pandering to both would be a bad idea. It’s pretty clear they didn’t listen to anything that didn’t fit into what they wanted AoEIV to be.
AoEIV sold well because of good faith and the name brand alone. I can tell you I’m not making that mistake again. AoEV is gonna have to blow it out of the water for me to consider another AoE title because if IV is the direction they are going in I want nothing to do with this franchise ever again, in other words, my faith in future titles is gone. Unfortunate for the AoE franchise as a whole but whatever.
Give us AoMDE and continue support for AoEIIIDE and I’ll be more than happy to throw money in support of these titles for the next decade.

Lol,Alphasniper watching AoE 3…maybe I think Mayorcete or Alpha himself once mentioned that he liked AoE 3…
Yes, I still… was super hyped with aoe 4 with the trailer of 2017, knowing that Relic was behind, I believed that it was going to be an AoE in the twentieth century type company of heroes or command and conquer and taking up the legacy of the last ages of the empire earth (world wars, cold war, modern war etc etc etc)… was super hyped with aoe 4 with the trailer of 2017, knowing that Relic was behind, I believed that it was going to be an AoE in the twentieth century type company of heroes or command and conquer and taking up the legacy of the last ages of the empire earth (world wars, cold war, modern war etc etc etc)… then I saw that it was medieval and my hype se muribut I still held out hope that it would be similar to aoe 3 or online aoe… what disgust I ended up taking with that it was a remake of aoe 2…I played all its campaigns since its launch and since I finished them in April of this year, I have not reopened it… maybe I lack the masters, but it gives me a laziness to do them and I returned to the AoE Online…

You are aware AOE III DE is included with Game Pass… Buy Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition | Xbox
I mean they laid off (ahem: read “retires at 45”) Shannon Loftis so I’m sure they will shake up next time whatever they do. But I have now no faith in MS to deliver a serious AOE II/III follow up without any direction from ES Employees as consultants on board.

I see many people talking about aoe 4 and why it “failed”, the reason is simple, they created too many expectations and then they released it unfinished.
Honestly, I hope that at some point aoe 4 will recover and become the best game in the series and I say this despite the fact that I like Age of Empires 3 better.
PS: Many want a new Age of Mythology or Age of EmpiresV, I want an Age of Revolutions.

It’s not the devs fault people get overhyped for games. People need to learn to manage their expectations. I learned long ago not to fall into hypetrain trap. The only time I get hyped is for AoE3DE DLC. I’m at the point now I don’t even care about new games that much, I’d rather just support games I really like already. For example, I have my eyes on Farthest Frontier, I’ll probably purchase it the day it releases. Do I have any expectations it’s gonna blow me away? no. Great if it does.
Lots of people were critical of AoEIV when the first trailer came out.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to blame the fans of the saga and neither the developers, the expectations were created by those responsible for marketing and the reason that the game came out unfinished is the responsibility of the CEOs who probably hastened the release of the title for pure greed.
I congratulate you, that is a very mature reaction, but we cannot expect everyone to act in the same way or experience things in the same way, we all react differently depending on the situation, there are people who get emotional more or less easily and it is completely respectable.
Honestly, I don’t remember seeing anyone complain, but I don’t usually watch trailer comments, they were probably a very loud minority of haters or just people who didn’t like the ones shown in the trailers.
PS: It doesn’t matter, probably even if the game was perfect these people weren’t going to buy it.
Don’t get me wrong, Age of empires IV has problems, but I’d like to think they can be fixed.
I am indeed aware. But it’s only £15 to buy. 4 is a ridiculous £40 to make people more likely to get gamepass. I’m not interested in AOE4 but I think it probably has a lot more players based on getting ten times as many viewers on Twitch.

This aged well.
Personally, I think the developers of both games are doing their best. Never understood why fans are driven to pit developers against each other.
Dismiss, guys. The cop has arrived.

Well, it’s the last numbered installment before 4, so it makes sense…
Yes, I think the same… and I would also add that they add to the celeste project team to FE, so they can also give official support to AoE Online, which I consider the true AoE 4…
I think exactly the same…although I like aoe 3 more than aoe 4, I think aoe 4, has a lot of potential and that it only lacks polish … after aoe 4, I would like an aom 2 or an aoe 5, now yes in the twentieth century (already for ancient age I settle for aoe online)…

That’s a very good question. It doesn’t violate any of the rules
