Atlanteans Revealed

Looks like Gaia is going to be my favorite of the Atlanteans in AoMR

I feel for O r # # # # they could add one more bonus, perhaps something like his units don’t suffer from the “snare” combat mechanic or something

Enemy units remaining visible for 25 seconds is a huge bonus.
On top of improved LOS it will give you very good map awareness.
Plus Sky Passages give you a lot flexibility.

Gaias Lush Heals 1 HP/Second. Odin does that globally for all units.

Kronos abilities are not really that powerful either in my opinion.

The free cost to time-shift Military Barracks,Counter-Barracks and Temples is pretty good especially when you will be having Oracles around generating favor making it hard for the opponent to know where your military buildings are pumping out units. Also a extra Myth unit when you age up is strong.

I’m confused. Why has ###### been greyed out here? And seemingly censored in @PadtheLad12’s comment, too?

Oh. Now I see. wtf Microsoft?

If you remove a few letters it kinda looks like a bad world that is not suitable for a place that can have 6 year old people in it.

The censorship in this Forum is so annoying. You can still insult people, censoring the names of gods, units, civilisations, buildings and technologies from the games is certainly not useful.

anyone know if Uranus sight range buffs favor from oracles?

Wait, the original spelling of the Atlantean god is censored but “Uranus”, which actually contains the word they were presumably trying to censor, isn’t?? Madness!

Ok I played a little (after initial problems).
Gaias Lush spreads pretty far around those buildings. You can easily cover multiple defensive buildings with one house for example.

It kinda seems like a good strategy to spread your houses around the map instead of using them to wall.
It takes a while (maybe 1 minute) for the Lush to fully grow so it’s probably not that useful offensively.

But yeah, it kinda feels like Zerg.

That is Aussie_Drongo playing as Gaia and using the UI option to move the economy bar to the bottom right near the mini map

How to make Kronos look 100% better: change the glow color to yellow, as he is the Titan of time, and what do you think of when you think of time? Hourglasses. And what’s inside an hourglass? Sand.

Just thought I’d mention this because a lot of people were saying Kronos looks worse than the original.

Also, Uranus is perfect and looks like an absolute chad. Twice as good as the original.

As for Gaia, she does look like Groot.

Gaia and Kronos need to be fixed. Oranos has some AI fingers going on or something.

yeah i mean there are now even indicators/a radius around the houses so you ideally should place them close to each other.

i like the new gia lush visuals its cleaer and still simple similar to the zerg infestation.
but since others here are nitpicky in that regard i want to be nitpicky too and say that it bothered me that on the gaia forest icon it shows some marsh/jungle trees but if you place the GP it still are those autumn birches. nothing crazy at all still bothered me a lil bit :stuck_out_tongue:

why not call him Oranos. in german you don’t have that risky U. but it seems more U’s does work too lol.

Kronos

nice idea regarding kronos. even i would see kronos more human looking than gaia. i mean what i always liked to think is that his hole skin got burned down and his hair fall out during his time down there so let him look more tortured and less rock golem would make it maybe better aswell?

Gaia

what i noticed for gaia: when you look at her temple statue it looks very thematic and cool. not only does she look now like how she looks elswhere but she also has that feminine “flower” pose. really nice idea and i think it should be honoured for whoever had this idea for her pose.

Oranos

i also agree freakin 25 sec vision on an attacked unit seems really strong especially early game for Oranos players. but i personally prefer the two free myth units and the now improved and unique looking gaia lush. (they could improve the heal even a bit at least for buildings in my personal opinion at least.

Unit sound

stymphalian bird looks now like the giant eagles of Lord of the Rings. but their sounds… aswell as some few other ones… really hoped they would replace some like stymphalian birds sounds… they are too overtuned in my opjnio during some others feel less quality. especially compared to the new sounds they introduced for other units. seems like they for attys they changed the least sound design wise… but it still might be a slighlty earlier version of them and they still work on a few improvements?

Titan

i mean as far as i saw (not in my game) they slightly alterend the atlantean titan! which is great news i think cause now he has the cool new stuff + the cool old stuff (at least in my opinion).
EDIT: titan walks really silly. please fix this before release!

Favour

still couldn’t get behind an efficent favour generation with oracles. maybe cause i am too nooby and forgot to place and scout them later on. cause i think its obvious you don’t want to clump them (you never did this before anyway) but i had quite a lot favour early game but lategame less and less (maybe cause i forgot to train more at the temple - hm… my bad i guess. or did some others had the same experience?)

military units

human military units look now way more roman inspired. most look aesthetically really pleasing. (love the shields!)
REALLY like the new fire siphon design. ships look great too. love the new sails.
EDIT: (heard turma is pretty bad now, but i am glad they got rid of that turma meta… was pretty boring to watch in my opinion. and i never personally liked to use them. but their new design still is pretty great!)

I can’t forgive them for Groot Gaia.

I might actually make a mod replacing the Atlantean God portraits. Not sure yet. There’s some I like, especially Theia.

I played yesterday a bit as Oranos, had a norse titan walk through my base, and I thought I was toast. I would have probably been toast, if it wasn’t for the Hades neighbor helping me defend.
(If you’re reading this, thank you for that. It was my first ever multiplayer round ever.)
So naturally, I didn’t really manage to test out a lot about the new favor generation. Maybe if I had created more oracles and sent them in random directions, I would have been able to spam tartarus gates, like I was able to spam vaults of plenty once…

So I had a few good runs as the atlanteans and got the hang of their new favour mechanic.

Obviously the more oracles you have, the faster the favour comes in. With 10 hero oracles you can properly mass favour, but you need to protect them. Spacing some out round your base is a good start, hiding others elsewhere round the map.

Atlantean favour starts slow but can really snowball, which is what I think is cool, because this snowball can be countered. Sniping off the oracles provides a good back and forth.

The slow rate of early favour generation is also partially compensated for by having their first few GP reuses be very cheap, as well as cheaper favour cost myth units. They also get a lot of favour generation bonuses through some gods. Pick the right gods and you can (I have done) mass myth and GP’s, but only if you protect those oracles. It’s a good back and forth.

Honestly I think this is a brilliant change. Well balanced in terms of risk/reward, not lazy as it requires a degree of planning and micro and decision making, and like all the other civ ways of generating favour it can be countered. Takes a little bit to get used to but once you figure it out properly it’s good fun. Just get those oracles out early!

In my experience the 3 Oracles in the beginning might be a little too good.
Greeks need to build a Temple, Norse need to actually start fighting and Egyptians need to build a monument.
Atlanteans basically start with 2 monuments.

I also think that revealing parts outside of the map should give less favour. It is kinda too easy to park them along the edge of the map right now.

But I think it’s cool that having more Oracles can actually be counter productive since they reduce the collection rate of other Oracles.
If you can’t secure a large enough area on the map you can’t get much favour.

Gonna be interesting to see on close maps.
