Autosplit option

It came up that @SanguineSeal278 thought Autosplit was an interesting idea.

It’s not one that I would like to have, but it is worth discussing. Should we have the option to toggle our units to Autosplit when they see the enemy?

I am thinking that it takes away the players experience to do so and should not be added.

+1 to this. Dodging enemy mangonel shot is really hard.

I don’t think it is really that interesting to discuss. It was simply an example to prove a point in another discussion.

The idea is just terrible. Right now every move your units do is in your control besides some stance stuff. There is already so little cool mircomanagement you can do and Autosplit would take one of the more interesting ones away. So yeah, hard pass on that one.

Autosplit was used as an example in a discussion. Someone said the example sucks so I proved the point by fleshing it out. At no point did I want to start a discussion or anything about this.

But I always have the mental or strategic intention (the knowledge if you prefer - and it seems that I lack the mental capacity to extensively multitask), not to have any idle TC time

And I have the mental strategic intention of splitting my crossbows to dodge mangonel hits, but I lack the mental capacity to multitask. But it doesn’t mean a auto split button should be added.

This is a real-time strategy game. Having the intention of doing something is not all, part of the point of the game is being able to execute your strategy and tasks in a timely manner.

How will such an auto split button work? You mean units will no longer listen to player and disperse? At least give some sensible example. That example of auto split makes no sense

It does make sense. Pick 10 crossbows, send them across the map and activate “Auto Split”. If they meet a mangonel on the way they dodge the incoming shot by splitting. As split is already a formation in the game, the Auto-Split would remove just one clic

as you can see prokmanl said what triRem mentioned has no real example. so @SanguineSeal278 just gave an example of altho the idea being poor and bad for the game, it can work
and this is his original comment about the AQ and how he is against it. which i think thats why it triggered you when he compared auto queue with auto splitting and you started calling him out

To me this just sounds like a boring game. Using hit & run with your archers for 30 minutes every game sounds fun for the first few games, not for the next 1000. The reason a combat system like that is working for so long is because it is simply not the main focus of the game. The biggest challenge is spending all your resources in a meaningful way. Take away this challenge, which auto spending resources does help incredible a lot with, and the main focus of the game will shift more towards the military side and as I already mentioned: It just sounds boring.

none of them stated the idea as if it should be added to the game lol. stop calling out people for no reason ffs xD both of them wanted to show you how bad auto-queue will impact the game by comparing it to auto-split
