I just got off the phone with Microsoft support. Based on some posts on these forums, I was under the impression that one could change their Xbox user settings to alleviate the in-game chat censor.
The kind gentleman at Xbox Support informed me that the setting is on the game-end. That is to say, unless the developers add a setting in game to turn off/lessen the censor, there is nothing that can be done.
To any devs who happen across this thread: please add this setting. I understand that we want to protect young empire-builders from toxic messages, but the censor casts too wide a net and is frustrating for twenty-thirty-forty-something-year-olds who can’t send relevant in-game messages to other players.
Perhaps a feature which could be added is in-game VoIP? That would be sick!
