I don’t think this Parthnan actually knows how game works. It’s easy to say such things without any knowledge is it even possible implement in the game. I don’t think they can fix cheating as long as cheaters have so much access to game data
Also there is no point in the poll as it adds nothing to discussion with how it’s formatted, imagine poll with 1. fix bug/crashing 2. don’t fix bug/crashing

The player with the argentinian flag is now #1 on the ladder. 94 games, 100% win rate.

What would you suggest as Anti-Cheating Tool? VAC?

That will be up to the devs.
Well any external anti cheat that could be integrated to game would be fine for me.
Anti cheat(or Anti hack) mechanics has to be internal, and properly encoded such that it is almost impossible to tamper with
That’s how commercial softwares work
hahaha this is epic, obviously he is just a great player, since the devs havent done anything about it…
Two quick fixes that would eliminate cheating very quickly beyond reporting:
- Allow is to see who we are playing against pre-match
- Allow a chance to refuse to play the opposing player either before load out or reimplement the 1 minute grace period
Long term there are many great reporting solutions on these forums. But something quick should be put into place.
Devs, let the community monitor cheaters until you decide to actually do it.
by external I mean programs that separate from game like EAC and battleye that user needs to download in order to play.
game is already able to detect tampering and kill process but these hacker just try until they get through
second point is not good for tournaments. just for $20k BOA2 tournament those less skilled teams were dodging enemies so they can get matches they can win(and get elo). dodging helps teams/players to get higher seed and then get to play in tournament over someone who didn’t dodge which is unfair. Because of this tournament organizer needed top make pre-qualification stage for seeds 9-24 which was also unfair
So the cheat doesn’t work all the time? Randomly works?
no they tweak cheat until game does not detect it, just like with any other anti cheat.

Yes, let’s dictate the entire game based off of tournaments. ![:man_facepalming: :man_facepalming:](https://forums.ageofempires.com/images/emoji/win10/man_facepalming.png?v=9)
This is an overused and irrelevant argument. The tournament coordinators can fix an issue by holding better qualifiers for all players if that’s really an issue caused by some juvenile, high ranked players.
Prioritizing tournaments instead of the vast majority of player will end in the game being abandoned by most players and back to its lows during the last decade.
Multiplayer should just get disabled unless it’s LAN, DirectIP, or for a sponsored tournament. Use AoE2:HD for classic multiplayer, if desired. Less heartache and grief for players; don’t have to worry so much about patches not fixing MP issues. Problem solved!
This seems a great suggestion to just kill DE completely. At this moment i have hope. I believe the devs can fix the mess. If they just kill MP on DE, then it is just completely over for DE. I dont think this is the solution.
So i hope your respons is sarcastic.

I come up with some ideas:
-
Add the option to block players. It is now already possible, but it only block chat. You need to block the player completely, so you cant play again against the same person. This means if someone is a well know cheater, players can already react to this by blocking to player, so they can’t play the cheater.
-
Add back a grace period of 1 minutes in which you can freely resign. I am not really a fan of this in a perfect world, but now we have the issue of cheaters, it would be great to have this option. If you noticed in the first minute you play against a cheater, you can just quit the game without any drawbacks.
-
Have a group of carefully selected volunteers to have a first look at all reports. Give those people the option to ban players for some days. This give the devs time to have a really good look at those player. Note: Don’t pick random guys for this, these players really needs to be selected carefully. Also make sure you have people of all different time zones, so there is always some kind of ‘volunteer moderator’ available. These volunteers also can investigate the issue a bit more and make a proper case for the devs so the devs can respons much more quickly.
-
Have something like some auto ban function. If someone is reported by x amount of players, just give them an auto ban and send an auto message to the devs, so they can have a look at this.
All of these ideas are back office ideas, it is all about ‘How to handle cheaters’. It is not about how to detect cheaters at the front. That part is more difficult. But those ideas make the impact cheating on the game already a big less.

Kill off DE, because, why not?
Bad option.

Yes, was sarcastic, but it’s tough to see so many people dissatisfied with the game purely because of multiplayer issues… which are continually being worked on. There’s a huge game surrounding the multiplayer aspect that I wish were more appreciated and used in moments like these. I hope every single MP issue get fixed by 8am tomorrow, but I have a feeling that won’t happen because it’s not realistic. In my opinion, MP issues – especially anti-cheat mechanics – have been prioritized and I bet they will continue to be.
I hope the poll in the OP was sarcastic. It’s definitely rhetorical ![ ](https://forums.ageofempires.com/images/emoji/win10/slight_smile.png?v=12)
No killing off of DE. Don’t worry… MP is here to stay
Guilty. First post was all about drawing attention for this subject. The poll was meant to be rhetorical.
