Black Forest map Generation

Did they changed Black Forest Again ? The map generation used to feel almost perfectly symmetrical, with each player having their own narrow, equally sized lane. But over the past few days, it seems like the map generation has become more random again, with large open spaces that are hard to wall, which aligns more with the map’s original identity.

However, I haven’t seen any patch notes about this.

Does someone noticed ?

I wish they make bigger lakes again…

Black Forest was essentially rewritten in Update 141935 to make it more competitive and balanced. Additional adjustments were introduced a few days ago as part of the July PUP, addressing certain issues, indicating ongoing active development.

I’ve also noticed greater variability in opening sizes for the new map script but find it fun, as it doesn’t pose the issue of being unbalanced. Lakes have similarly been adjusted to ensure fairness between teams, as have extra resources like boars.

But the lakes are still too small. It’s useless to fish. It’s waste of wood in early game.

I felt they were adequately sized the times I played it. You actually don’t need much water for a proper fish boom: https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/15jp73f/finally_a_fishboom_im_happy_with/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Definitely, it’s a balancing act. It’s wood-intensive early on, especially when there’s not much fish available.

Problem is not the fish boom is the one fish per lake. Its too bad for early fishing.

First rule of Black Forest, is never play Black Forest… :joy:

There are worst maps to ban
