When you use more than 1 shaolin to collect different relics only the first one will be able to collect it. All the others will stop in front of the relics, and will not be able to grab.

I ended up not being able to pick anymore relics after the 4th one in my game.
Therefore I tried doing the steps you said but there was no bug then, so probably something else that triggers this bug.
