Burmese just aren’t that viable in TG; new monk ability?

Yes I agree that they are weak to archers, but they have a lot of good things.
And lets not forget that they have onagers with siege engineers, which are really helpfull against archers.

I play a lot as viking japanise and bulgarians. Infantry is a lot of times very important to me, not only as goths.

In the past similar exploits on Voobly were found and the result were broken monks. Giving broken monks to a civ sin’t OK and isn’t a good balance method. The obscene amounts of gold Burmese save on monastery techs put them on part with Aztecs, especially on Arena. Aztec monks have more HP, sure, but it’s useless when the enemy could pay for Atonement earlier and now has more monks that are able to convert your dudes with impunity. And what good the relic bonus will do to them if the Burmese dude took them first?

At around 1000 ELO, as I could see myself while rushing through my placement matches, people will forget loom, fail to build palissades with no holes, try to quickwall like pros while both sucking at it and idling their whole eco, and are unable to counter my poorly executed straight archer rush (that had no bonus as I was Berber) Should we buff villagers and palissades to help these guys or accept that not everything can work at its full potential for all ELO?

These civs won’t focus as much on infantry as Goths in team games however, that’s why I insisted on how much better Burmese are at countering Goths than other ele civs are.

I added a section after you replied:

If it’s too good of a bonus since monks can really change the game at the high level then there could be a 1 second converting penalty for using the “easy method” bonus. This way it still appeals to the average players because most can’t monk micro yet manage other military and eco. Pros will still convert using each monk individually since they have the skill and don’t want to be penalized 1 second per conversion.

So basically you would have to add an option to switch between normal and easy mode, which would add soem micro, which is of course what newbies don’t need.

I’m at that level and players are decent surprisingly. They make counters to your units, get loom before fuedal on open maps, try to get the hill bonus, get 80+ villagers in arena and Black Forest, house wall when being pressured in fuedal, FI with Turks, etc.

I’m not saying they are great at all of it and can properly manage everything, but they definitely know how to play and probably watch pro players.

I heard that Viper said burmese are ok

No there wouldn’t be an easy or hard mode just if you have a group of monks (more than 1) and then click on multiple enemy units it would only have 1 monk of the group (that currently isn’t converting) convert 1 unit but add 1 second to the conversion.

If you only have 1 monk selected and click an enemy to convert then there would be no penalty. This is what the pros would do.

Viper tends to say a lot of units or civs are good or ok. He is probably not the person you want to ask if a civ needs balance changes. He didn’t think Teutons needed a buff at all before any of the balance changes.

So if you do need fast conversion then you will be forced to click your monks one by one and it would ruin the fact Burmese get Theocracy. Sounds way too much to just help newer players, and it would be a straigth nerf for people who do know basic monk micro.

When you individually micro each monk they aren’t in a group and theocracy doesn’t apply. It only works if you have multiple monks try to convert one unit.

Also using all your monks on one unit at a time (with theocracy) isn’t the best approach because in that time waiting for a unit to convert, you could have been using the other monks to get conversions as well. Using all your monks on 1 unit at a time isn’t the most efficient way to get the most possible conversions.

Auto farms, auto scouts, auto monks… Better “auto everything” and let the AI play.

And he said elephant archers are ok.

Cmon 11… We all know the viper trolls. He was joking surely.

And now teutons are a bit op.

Just practice deselection monk micro using ctrl, you don’t have to be lazy. It’s not hard.

And not a fan of changing the method of operation of a common unit for one civ.

Are they? We’ve got what? Two weeks under the current patch and zero tournament games to go on?

Lets wait until membTV king of africa and we will see  i dont think the plus + 2 melee armor on paladin was needed, but to me is fine any way. I have always liked teutons. Very cheap farms and now one of the best units in game.

If you do de-selection micro and get a quick conversion in castle or in imp without theocracy then all your monks lose faith. That’s no bueno. It’s pretty tricky to deselect when you have a lot of monks.

If they could program that when a group of monks all try to convert 1 unit then there is no penalty because this is standard for all civs. If, however, you click more then 1 unit to convert then all the subsequent conversions get 1 sec penalty. After the second click it stops all the other monks from trying to convert except 1 for the original conversion. Then it assigns a second monk for the 2nd enemy unit and so on until you’ve clicked the number of units you have in monks. This way you can still try to quickly convert 1 unit with all your monks.

The de-selection micro method would still work the same without any penalty since you convert one unit with all monks but then de-select each monk to convert a different unit. So the gameplay would still be the exact same for pros who use de-selection micro or assigned number micro.

Then you are doing it wrong, you are supposed to hit stop every x monks to reset the conversion timers. Maybe I would use 8 monks max, in the best scenario. Monks aren’t supposed to be “easy” since they are incredibly powerfull.
