I’m making this post to gauge your opinion on the idea of a group of modders from the community joining together to address balance issues, create new content (such as new civilizations, units, cards, revolutions, and mechanics), and implement quality-of-life changes. My idea is that once this group of modders forms, they should coordinate and introduce themselves on the forum. We could then share our proposals and hold a vote among all forum members to determine which changes should be made or what new content we want added. This voting process would ensure fairness. Now, here’s the interesting part: this group of modders could create an account so we can start making donations and compensate their work. They could even establish a small development studio focused solely on continuing the development of Age of Empires 3 and adding all the remaining civilizations to the game, It would be something like what the guys from Wars of Liberty did, but this time the work would be done on Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition, always keeping in mind the game’s historical setting (1600-1900) to avoid any issues with historical accuracy. I’ve noticed that many people have great ideas here on the forum, but unfortunately, very few of those ideas have made it into the official game. For this reason, I urge modders to somehow come together and create an association or a small studio to continue developing the game. And I reiterate, this is about all of us supporting each other: the modders creating new content through voting, and us fans supporting it financially with donations to the account created by the group of modders who want to join the project to create new content for Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition.
I know it’s not easy, but perhaps there are people who are truly committed to the game enough to continue its development, working together with other modders in the community.
What I want is for them to port the Wars of Liberty mod to AOE3DE. There are civilizations that have not yet been officially added, such as the Egyptians, Zulu, Australians, Canadians, Irish, Achenese, Koreans, Siamese, Vietnamese, Astro-Hungarians, Belgians, Danes, Swiss, Argentines, Bolivians, Brazilians, Chileans, Colombians, Haitians, Paraguayans, Peruvians, Uruguayans, Afghans, Persians, Saudis, Uzbeks, Bulgarians, Greeks, Romanians, Serbs, Mapuches, Tupis, Hawaiians, and Maoris.
I understand it’s not easy, since many here are used to working alone on their personal game modification projects, but perhaps somehow, with good coordination, we can reach a good agreement to create a council or group of modders who can officially begin operating with the community here on the forum.
There are many civilizations missing from the game, starting with the most important ones: Poland and Denmark. Persia, Korea, Canada, and the South American factions could come later.
There’s also a lot of balancing work to be done before adding new content. A good example of important things to fix is the rework of the Maltese and Italian civilizations. These two factions need their age advancement system changed, something like Mexico and the United States, only instead of federal states, they would be alliances with republics. The revolutions of all civilizations also need improvement, as most have very poor decks. We need to standardize the revolutions to resemble the French Revolution, which is the most complete so far. Another important example would be adding the Meiji Restoration for the Japanese and the Boxer Rebellion for the Chinese. That way, these civilizations could have 19th-century military units with a more modern appearance than they have in the Imperial Age, Of course, all of this is just an idea based on other posts I’ve seen here on the forum, and much of it may not even be relevant at this time.
Wars of Liberty is a full conversion mod. It’d take years for you to see any of those civs if at all. Because first you must completely rewrite the techtree and the unit counters and create the Great War Age…
Honestly him finding out his “brilliant” ideas are nowhere near what most players want would be one of the funnier outcomes of making this mod by committee.
Well, maybe my English isn’t very good, but what I’m trying to say is that people—and I mean everyone—have the freedom to express their ideas, but that doesn’t mean all those ideas have to be implemented. That’s why I suggested a vote to determine which characteristics and changes are most relevant to modify. I’ve put forward some ideas, but they’re just suggestions; I never said they had to be crucial. However, I’m simply basing some of the ideas I’ve posted here on the public opinion of most of the people who post in the forum.
reiterate that most of the ideas and suggestions I’ve put forward in some of my posts are based on what I’ve seen in other posts from members of this forum. In fact, I’ve borrowed many ideas from other members that I find quite interesting. In conclusion, let’s try to focus on the central idea of this post, which is to see how we can create a group of modders who want to continue developing the game in order to fix balance issues, add new content, and also improve the quality of life in Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition.
With all due respect, guys, let’s stay on topic and focus on the main issue: finding a solution to the game’s abandonment. The important thing is to find solutions that rekindle interest in continuing the development of Age of Empires 3. Pessimism won’t get us anywhere.
I’m not being pessimistic, If I wanna make a mod I just freaking make the mod. I’ve made several already.
I just think the whole idea is goofy. Like I’m not even sure what would ever lead someone to believe that not only Malta out of all civs should use the Federal Age up system (?!?) but that it’s a majority opinion.
There have been a few ideas floated around like this, but they all seem to fizzle out. If you take the lead then I suspect some people will lend a hand, but you’re not going to inspire a large group of modders to leave their main, mature projects and come work on something else that isn’t even started.
Of course, I respect your comment and I confirm that the Malta and Italy thing was just an idea I saw here on the forum a while ago, Changing the subject drastically, what ideas do you think are relevant to modify in the game, or what would be important for you to add?
I’m starting to realize that the community is very divided. Everyone wants continued support for the game, but at the same time, no one wants to do anything to work together to solve the game’s balance issues and things like that. I find it very sad and disappointing that our community acts this way.
