Digital Deluxe Edition Items Feedback - Extremely Disappointing :(

It is the worst Digital Deluxe Edition. They must offer a free DLC for compensation xD

They probably should have called it a “supporter pack” like I’ve seen a few other games call the deluxe version because then you would know you arent really getting much and just want to support the game.

I have the deluxe one, but having no idea what is the difference.

Some hidden files that have already been shared with everyone and a wolf icon. I think burning 20 dollars would have been way more fun to see.

I don’t really know where else to post this but I am VERY disappointed in the £20 extra I paid for the Deluxe edition.
I like the game itself, no real complaint, but when I break down what I actually get extra, I feel ripped off to say the least and here is why:-

  1. The “special” coat of arms, Player Profile and Monument, these are ok but when you EARN and unlock others I will probably switch to them as they are Bragging rights… (I also think I miss read somewhere that “you can create your own coat of arms…” SO I thought I could make my own and uploaded… but that’s my fault I guess… I was looking forward to flying my Clan banner and was kind of hoping my fellow clan members could also use if clans were a thing)

  2. Digital Sound track… lets be honest no one cares, ok a few people will, but I DEFIENTLY wont be blasting these tunes at any party lol…

  3. Art work… Might be cool (cant find it) but should I really be paying for some art work that probably should be in the game anyway??

ALSO I have no idea how to access the sound track or art work… and had to google how to access the unit counter chart… why is this not easy for me/others to find??

  1. Now THIS is my biggest bugbear about this… and is the MAIN reason I bought the deluxe version:-
UNIT COUNTER CHART!! How is this chart acceptable to you guys?

It has 6 units… SIX!!! are you telling me that’s all the units in the game??? come on…
and the lack of detail is shocking… you are basically saying If they have horse, use spearman or crossbow men but they are not as good…
Like we already know this 99% of the world population know he hit mounted units with a spear!!
We (and maybe I’m wrong but I feel I speak for all) want to know the details!!
Like what is the extra attack damage spearmen do and crossbows?? like is it plus 1 damage or plus 30 damage? I want to know how many I need to take down 5 horse man, and what is then the resource ratio! etc!

I have included a picture

Click here for Bigger version, if interested "CounterUnitsChart|690x270"
of a small section of a chart I made 20 years ago for AoK for FREE for people to use… Yes yours looks pretty but is USELESS!!! what a waste of my £20

For those interested in the FULL chart you can find it here:- https://www.net-clan.com/AoKWeb/ (under UniversityUnit stats)

I’m hoping someone in control sees this post and takes a look at that chart and sees how poor it is and they do a “proper” one for us that includes ALL the units and the bonuses they get…
Like if I get attacked by Nest of Bees, what should I build?? I’m sure after a few weeks/months ill learn all the counters myself but that’s not the point… I’m getting old and need help learning these things and I have paid for it!

Hey man, do you happen to have the Steam version for it?

You just need to open your local Age IV folder, steam files, and then you’ll see a folder titled “Unit Counter’s chart” and “Craig Mullins Compilation banner”.

The default directory for mine is “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age of Empires IV”.

Please give it a check. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks man… but although that’s annoying and I appreciate your help, that’s not my main point, I’m sure if I look hard enough I can Struggle and find it…

but

  1. why should I have to struggle??
  2. its rubbish!!! (mainly talking about the counter chart)

If you find the art compilation, you will be even more disappointed 1111

This edition has nothing deluxe in it. It’s simply a way to take another $20 from customers. Ridiculous!

The only thing that was supposed to be useful was the counters chart, but the other things were supposed to be good for collectors. None expectations fulfilled.

Wait I found it…
It’s ONE picture??? ya stick that under the “useless” title as well…

Yea, I also have the Deluxe Edition. It was a big disappointment for the banner as well. I even had the impression that it was going to be implemented in game. Generally my understanding was like the decal system for COH 2 (the one’s that appear on your buildings and tanks for example), so I was really disappointed as well.

Honestly, I have to agree with you there, I expected the Unit counter chart to be so sophisticated. Perhaps I had too much of a high expectation. The part that even sucks is that it’s available for everyone to view on the web. I thought it’s meant to be real exclusive to Deluxe edition.

Oh, don’t get me started on the Art as well, I’ll tell you man, I was honestly looking forward to pictures*, a whole compilation of the different civilizations but I was completely wrong.

Yep found it and you are right… very dissapointed!
this has to be a mistake???

Surely this is someone who was busy and either forgot/got distracted so only managed to upload 1 picture and only had 2 minutes to cut and paste some pictures together in Photoshop to make a Counter unit chart…

You paid £20 for that chart? I can’t believe that was made by any sort of professional…

I feel disappointed with deluxe and I didn’t even get deluxe, but they really need to give you guys more…
$20 isn’t a small amount of money.

lol
ok to clear something up… the picture of a “Chart”
I linked (with yellow writing) is what I made 20years ago!!!
so no that is not professional made, I linked it to show the details that SHOULD be shown…
I had to sit there and hit EVERY unit in the game, like a Knight, with each unit in the game, once and work out the damage bonus, of EACH unit, that was done and put it in a chart which took agessssssss!!! which is why i was “happy” to pay £20 more to get a premade professional one lol

and to be even more clear THEIR “Professional” one is even worse see here:-

Like I said theirs looks nice but is useless!!!

OMG I just seen the “joke” in the bottom right corner???
Villagers are very good at countering Sheep but bad at countering Knights!..

Well that’s proven me wrong… £20 well spent :roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes: :joy:

I also found the charts to be disappointing; hopefully some better ones will be released at some point.

I thought the only point in the deluxe edition was the soundtrack, but it seems it doesn’t actually have all the music.

I still haven’t found that lol

Agreed. Their marketing made it sound like the profile picture and Coat of Arms FEATURE were exclusive to the deluxe edition and that’s the only reason I bought it. The media that they produced promoting the deluxe edition just said for the additional price you get a “Coat of Arms”, “Profile Portrait” and “Monument”. This is very ambiguous and misleading. It should have explicitly described what we were getting: “You get the Wolf Customization Pack, which includes a Wolf Town Hall Monument, Coat of Arms Sigil and Profile Portrait and a Mountain Sigil Frame”. I was under the impression that purchasing the Deluxe Edition gave you the bonus feature of being able to customize your Coat of Arms, while the base game would just have a generic Coat of Arms for everyone.

To make matters worse, they changed the icons between different media. At one point, they showed the Royal Lion (the one you get from the second English Mastery) as the “Coat of Arms” icon. So, there was no consistency in what they were advertising…on top of that, there was no information ANYWHERE about how exactly the “Coat of Arms” feature even worked. You couldn’t even access it during the beta. All we had to go on was speculation of what we thought it was and how it worked. Even with how it works, you don’t get a whole “Coat of Arms”, as advertised…You get a Coat of Arms SIGIL and SIGIL FRAME.

The sound track and art are cool, I guess…but I knew that those would be posted all over the internet and available to everyone, with or without the Deluxe Edition, as soon as the game launched.

In the end, totally not worth the $20 extra. Like…think about it, we got a sigil, sigil frame, portrait, soundtrack and a digital image of the box art…for the same price as the entirety of AoE2: DE…Big rip.

I don’t think it ever gave that impression. I don’t know why anyone would assume they got profile pictures and everyone else didn’t. But yeah none of it was very well shown early on to know what things would look like.

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes everything from Age of Empires IV, plus digital bonus content which includes the official Age of Empires IV soundtrack, Unit Counters Chart, art compilation from digital painter Craig Mullins, and exclusive in-game content including a Coat of Arms, Player Profile portrait, and Monument.
