Disconnect after few minutes playing multiplayer (Problem persists after update)

I can´t play inmultiplayer mode! It is disconecting after a couple of minutes! They got success to crack the game and cause a lot of angry to their customer!

This is the most unstable version… multiplayer not working, the app just closes to desktop… many users get disconneted at the same time… this is a mess…

Just to give some rare (it seems) positive feedback - I have had disconnections ever since launch and tonight I haven’t had a single one. I’ve done about 300 hours now, almost all through a VPN because this issue was huge for me, but tonight it has gone.

I don’t know if it’s some random variable outside of the release (it’s possible my ISP changed something) and I have no idea if it will come back, but for me the disconnection problem has suddenly disappeared after the update. I am wired directly to a DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem and have been the entire time (so it’s nothing to do with WIFI), if that helps. Do with this information what you will.

Has anyone got refunded their money from steam? Considering trying it

After the Feb 27th hotfix the game is now unplayable for me. Never had any issues playing ranked before that, and now after a few minutes into the match, I get an instant disconnect message (and lose rating). Sometimes the game freezes and closes without error messages.

Looking forward to a fix because this patch just ruined my gaming experience completely.

ISP: NET/Claro
What region: Brazil
Using VPN? Tried with and without it. Happens in both cases.
Other info: Steam Version

Hey, not sure if it will work for anyone else, but I found a fix for ethernet disconnecting. I went into device manager and checked my network drives. The game was disabling the ethernet for unknown reasons. Re-enabling the driver got my connection working again without issues.

After last patch I am unable to play MP games (ranked) it pernamently dropped the game during loading screen. Pretty annoying, asked Steam 2× for refund but they refused due to 80hrs+ game play. I didnt pay for this!

Not sure if it’s related to main issue reported here, but yesterday I had to restart the game 3 times and disconnect from Xbox Live account in order to host a MP game. The lobby was broken and connection failed don’t know why.

the problem that was solved with the december patch is back with the 13th february hotfix.
before that hotfix the situation was fine, some disconnection every now and then but nothing alarming.

after the 13th february hotfix. the disconnection rate is higher than 50%.

i give up, it’s so frustrating.
i speak as an adult with limited time to spare for games, and look… i’m spending said time reporting the same error i was reporting 3 months ago, which was resolved.
i wish i could go back to hd but, after all the improvements brought by DE, i cannot downgrade either.

i give up, it’s just not worth it.

i would advice leaving negative review on steam page. maybe this would alarm the new comer from AOE 2 HD that this game is broken for a good amount of us. since refund will be hard after playing 2 hours of the game… and thats like 2/3 matches.

Experiencing the same issue. Since my last 8 games that spanned over 2 weeks I always dropped between Minute 4-5.
Works for custom games btw.

I bought to re live this game 20 years later, playing with my friends. I get “disconnected from network” every-single-time we load up and try and play. I have hosted, my friends have hosted, the result is always the same. I get disconnected. They do not however. I thought it could be on my end until i searched online and found that a whoooole lot of other people are experiencing this from all over the world.

Needs fixed ASAP

I bought this, again, to play with friends and I can not due to something caught in the Matrix between Micrsoft Live or w/e and Steam… That is only my guess.

But I get “disconnected from network. Check your internet connects” while I am still, literally talking to my friend via steam chat

never had issues, on patchday 27th feb. i played one game without problems.
Today i started playing again, first game i lagged badly. to the point i could not resist it anymore.
Second game i just dc’d when reaching castle age and started building my castle…

I might have found a workaround for this. turned all graphic settings down to lowest, vsync on and no ultra HD pack gave me 5 games in a raw with no disconnections. try it folks

Graphics as low as they can go seems to have done the trick for me.

    Ive only just moved here in my old house I admittidly had a faster connection 110MB my new house can only offer 26MB via phoneline ( no fibre in the area :frowning: ) The game played fine at the last house very very rarely dcd, Im unsure if its the last update of the new internet connection effecting me!?

I hope you guys can work this out soon Im dying to play with my online buddys

tried it now with a different network card ( USB) and a VPN. VPN slightly better I made it in until 10 mins game time then the usual disconnect error game saved blah blah blah

steam won’t refund if you have more than two hours play time. I tried already

As everyone in this thread, I’ve been kicked afeter a few minutes. I played with lowest settings, and it changed nothing…

Was hopeful that this problem is finally solved after finishing a long Teamgame without dropping, but the next game I got the typical disconnect after 4 minutes again.
As others have mentioned too it’s frustrating to see the devs resources being spent on things like autoscouting etc. instead of fixing this problem that me and many others have had since the BETA!
We have given so much information, how can this still not be fixed? Really disappointed.
