Don't say Chinese market is the target, when Chinese translation is insultingly bad

Look at these translations.

钢铁宝塔 instead of 铁浮图, 辽道 instead of 辽刀, and fire lancer translates to “fire lancer cavalry”.

Khitans civ identity: “Food of infantry and cavalry civ”.

And the random “Microsoft YaHei” instead of “Georgians” in the Tamerlane campaign, never fixed since DE release.

The devs aren’t wrong, the khitans specialize in producing the food for infantry and cavalry. You have to understand the context or your a hater, something, something, something, we all need to be grateful the game is getting updates no matter how bad they are, only maximum masochism.

Is this real? That’s pretty bad lmao

At least 粮草征收人 was a funny meme.

I don’t know Chinese so I don’t know what these characters say. It would help if you could translate them into English.

I know what went wrong there without even knowing Chinese.

They did the same mistake in German too.

Were there lots of mistakes in other languages as well?
I only play English.

I’ve just seem brazilian players saying that the Sun Clan was transformed from a civ into a star: the Sun

The game’s translations have always been extremely bad. For example, in the Spanish translation of the Longshanks campaign, the hints sections refers to the Longbowman as “Archer of the snow” (arquero de las nieves) and I have no clue how a translator reached that conclusion. Every language has very glaring issues, so it’s better for everyone to just play in English

Some of them I have attached English meaning. Others:

Jurchen UU is Iron (铁) Pagoda (浮图), they just used the literal meaning where pagoda is a tower (宝塔) but this phrase of 钢铁宝塔 never appeared in any literature. No context, no research, sloppiness.

Khitan UU is more absurd: Liao (辽) Dao (刀). They used a character with the same phonetic symbol 道 (also Dao) but has a completely unrelated meaning (It means road / way).

Ah yes! It should be tiefutu right?

Microsoft Yahei is crazy :joy:

How can one mistakenly translating a civilization name into a font name?

It seems to me that the tools they use for translating think that the Georgia is the same as the Microsoft font Georgia, so they change it to the Chinese font which is Microsoft Yahei

It’s clear localization is very weak. There should be more work put into this, for each languages. There is many problems with french too. I should add it to my negative review of the base game…

So they’re just using Google Translate then. Wow. ChatGPT could probably have done a better translation.

Relax man, the only thing that matters is gameplay, and the gameplay is good. Who cares about other languages anyway? I know I don’t because I play in English, so you haters should stop complaining.

Is it irony? The game advertises different languages, we should then be able to expect this feature to be respected (and there is also audio problems like narrator not waitin for the text in V&V)…
I can read and speak English, but I play for leisure and it’s relaxing for me to have at least a UI in my language without mistakes…

But it is respected. The game has multiple languages, but it doesn’t say anywhere that it should be done correctly. Besides I don’t care about languages, this game is not a language learning tool.

Wow you campaign players get a DLC all to yourselves and yet you still complain, be grateful the game is still getting updates and not shut down.

I can’t read it ;c. No need to show off ;(((

Yeah

Yes! 铁浮图 = Tiefutu

11 unexpected relation. Nonetheless, it ending up still in English is crazy.
