I noticed that the new Plumed Archer skins no longer include the arrows pierced into the ground.
Unlike other trainable bowmen, the Plumed Archer lacks a quiver, but instead has them on the ground next to him while standing, like seen above. Is there a historical basis, did the Mayan archers not use quivers? Not sure whether the new model actually has one on the back.
Planting arrows in the ground during battles was apparently quite common for foot archers, making them easier to grab than having them in the quiver.
As a bonus it increased the risk of infections for the enemy.
I did a quick search and didn’t find any explicit reference to the Mayan quiver on the web, but it is likely that they used it not only because it is intuitive, but because their Aztec and other neighbors also used it. This is probably just a detail that the devs thought was cool.
Thanks for the info.
Seems that they didn’t find the detail so cool anymore. Well, we’ll see in April.
The arrows in the ground look so awesome. Hope they will keep them.
Naked woad raider vs naked urumi
Now I get why the naked VMDL is running away so quickly
They are gone, as shown in the sneak peek.
