Enhanced Graphics option greyed out

I have got the same problem, even after the latest update on my pc. I have the minimum req but the option is greyed out.

An earlier Post claimed to have fixed the issue of Enhanced Graphics not installing. HOWEVER, after almost 3 weeks, the UHD DLC STILL won’t install !!

Enhanced Graphics UHD DLC has been Downloaded but will NOT INSTALL. It shows as “Downloaded” BUT not installed in the Steam Library “Manage DLCs” page ?

MicroSoft {?} won’t Install this “Enhanced Graphics” UHD DLC ??

I previously played AoE2_DE_Closed Beta with this same UHD DLC installed successfully.

In the “Manage DLCs” page, there is an “EnabIed” check box which I’ve checked {SEVERAL times}. The DLC Manager will not recognize my “Enabled” check !

When I start AoE2-DE and try to activate Enhanced Graphics, that option is “grayed out” so I cannot do so !?! Then when I go back to the “Manage DLCs” page, that “Enabled” check has disappeared every time ??

I have loaded & exited the AoE2_DE game several times, with no change.

I have Validated game files in Steam Library multiple times.

I have exited & relaunched Steam and got the latest Steam Client Update.

I even have done a several PC restarts and that does not fix this problem.

Still the UHD DLC will not install ?? ːlunar2019madpigː

My monitor resolution is 2560 x 1440 so that should be able to handle Enhanced Graphics. My PC also has passed the Match Performance Test. ːNorseː ːNorseː

Hey there! From your description, it sounds like there may be more than one thing going on. Can you please provide some additional details to assist in narrowing things down?

  • Can you please confirm the amount of available memory on your machine?
  • Can you post a screenshot snip of the DLC tab from the game properties in Steam?
  • Did you go through the AOE2:DE Beta uninstall steps prior to downloading the retail version?

I also fixed my problem with the greyed out Enhanced Graphics checkbox in Xbox/Windows Store version by updating my BIOS on ASUS X570 to latest version from 26th November 2019.

I fixed my problem first by going to the store searching for age of empires definitive edition, looking for the DLC enhanced graphics pack then click “buy or download“. Next you go to steam library, click on the age of empires II definitive edition, look to the right, scroll down until you find the DLC option, in its bottom right corner there is an option to “manage my DLC“, click on that, then click the box underneath enabled. Press okay. Wait a couple seconds and it will start downloading. The DLC is 16.5GB 2/10/2020 (This is for PC and ran on Steam)

Just noticed this
 Thanks
Already did as you described. At the “Manage DLC” step, nothing has happened, even after many tries. Also, now the highest resolution available for selection is 1280 by 720.

Thanks! This worked for me. It said “Not Installed”, so I clicked the square and it instantly started the download and installation. Hope other people find it useful too.

Dude, I created an account on this website for the sole and explicit reason to say thank you, WirableNine1325.

I did this:
in steam game Properties, enable/install enhanced graphics on DLC tab.

This was solved some time ago, but thanks for chipping in.

Confirmed this works, also ran an integrity check at same time.

I had the same issue even after the new update as the OP claims to fix.

For me what fixed was to install Capture Age then go to the options of Capture Age> Graphics and enable UHD from there. I run AoE2 DE to find that UHD is enabled and no longer greyed out.

What is “Capture Age” and why would one install it?
