Fast Villager Defense is crashing

Can confirm all of the information that has been shared thus far by @Pyra and @SadBearFVDCLUB. Additionally, players have been repeatedly making lobbies trying to find something on their end to change, but often can only play for 3-4 minutes before a crash. This goes on for most of the day as they’re rather dedicated to this game mode.

It appears to be a mod conflict or server problem, leading to more crashes during peak hours. I played 15 games during non-peak hours yesterday and the day before, and I didn’t experience one single crash. Many players reported the same. I recommend disabling all your mods, except for those that are purely visual, like small trees, and so on. We are still not sure of the cause. And we are waiting for the developers’ response.

This issue is now tracked on our side, thank you for the report.

It would be helpful to provide some basic instructions on how to properly play the mod - available in an easy to reach location.

“Fast Villager Defense is an AoE 2 mode from 2007 where seven players start with one villager, building Towers fast, and defend against waves for 50 minutes. Survival depends on teamwork and closing sides, as lone players won’t last. Players progress, unlocking upgrades by killing enemies. The Hunter’s goal is to eliminate all villagers, facing obstacles like towers, traps, and agile villagers, requiring precision.”

We consistently experience crashes 3-7 minutes into the game. The problem is frequent now, and all crashed game recordings include a saved chapter, leading us to suspect automatic activation of the save chapter is the cause or the symptom. This used to occur only when the save chapter was manually activated, as I reported previously here: Save Chapter Glitch

Let me know if you need a testing team; I can gather my player base for assistance.

My question was more about the functionality of the mod itself (if we need more precise steps to manually reproduce in the future). Thanks to the provided recorded games we were able to reproduce the crash/freeze and the issue is already logged on our side. :slight_smile:

@Felizon89 @aoescout the crash stopped after weeks and now its back after the patch release. Same pattern and frequency as before.

I want to express my gratitude for your assistance and feedback. You are a valued FVD player and member of our community, and I understand your frustration, especially given that the garrison command is also glitched.

Allow me to clarify a few points: The crashes began occurring frequently in January, consistently following the same pattern with each recorded instance involving a saved chapter. The frequency and consistency of these crashes suggest that they are not caused by someone manually triggering the save chapter or pressing F4, in other words, it is not someone trolling.

The crashes ceased after a server maintenance few weeks later, leading us to suspect that it may have been related to a server issue. However, this does not explain why the save chapter function is being activated automatically. Now, with the release of the patch, we are seeing the same pattern and frequency of crashes resurface. It’s important to note that FVD typically hosts around 60 lobbies a day.

The ideal solution would be to address the save chapter issue, as we’ve reported here: Save Chapter Glitch, or simply remove this option for custom scenarios.

Regarding the unexpected error lobby bug you mentioned, it is unrelated to the issues outlined in this report. It has been reported separately The lobby encountered an unexpected error and has been closed - #3 by thieftdp8498 and Players randomly dropping in custom game lobby - #31 by SadBearFVDCLUB.

We are actively collaborating with the official developers to resolve this situation, and I am confident that they are doing their best to address these issues.
