FIRST 3 DLCs HAS BECOME FREE, BUT

Thanks for the heads up. Makes sense that MS would have more trouble with their own platform than a third party one.

++ it reduces the DLC bloat. when I find a game interesting and then i see it has 10+ DLCs i immediately lose interest.
ā€“ entry price is now higher
ā€“ you canā€™t remove the DLC from your account anymore (I think)
ā€“ it obscures that the older DLCs were cheaper, allowing them charge more for the new ones

Big bummer for those who hate seeing unique castle treatment.

Thereā€™s a mod that removes them.

Removes them but with flying flags

Oh so we will still be getting less content for a higher price

Personally I want more unique castles, not less. Especially if it removes the English castle from the Central European set, the Italian castle from the Middle Eastern set, the Teutonic castle from the East European set and the temple from the Mesoamerican set.

O valor do TMR Ć© pura canalhice.

I will never approve unique castle treatment until it is available to all civs.

That is the goal

Iā€™d love unique monasteries as well, especially since a lot of the current ones only fit one civ.

Goal for whom? They clearly donā€™t have it in their priority.
They are just adding more and more inconsistency over time instead of finishing anything.

No free haha. When I noticed my games had all 3 and glanced at the News, I thought they made them 3 free for good, but oh-uh.

Did it pop yet? Because I didnā€™t do anything. They just auto-installed. It could be that the new DLC launching is causing some issues for some accounts. Just be patient, or maybe try clearing caches to see if it will refresh.

It is really hard to judge here. Plus-15 for all 3 is a-okay, biggest sale was 50%, Iā€™m not sure if they will now lower it down to 25%. MS clearly said it is a thank-you to us who bought the game prior to Nov 13th. Will any new player complain though?

Not the first time. Thatā€™s the rule all over the world.

Itā€™s not possible to get rid of this forced DLC content, isnā€™t it?

Now Iā€™m even less inclined to play random civ and/or team games where random cannot be ruled out.

You can uncheck them in the Steam menu.

Honestly I think its about time AOE2 should introduce a cheaper model. Instead of raising the price. Itā€™ll kill the game. Cheaper model as in, just being locked to a civ rotation and campaigns if you buy it with cheaper price. Not liking making 3 DLCs free just for buying the base game then making the price higher.

I agree with SOTLā€™s guess. There are barely any people that are buying the base game. Only a handful sell during sale. So raising base game price was not a bad idea.

Ah, thanks, Iā€™ll check it out!
