I’d just like to point out that I was correct with my DLC release date prediction of November 14th The numbers just spoke for themselves lol
I’d prefer to post that in the other thread, but it got locked for some reason.
Regarding OP of this thread, seems odd that existing players only get to choose any 1 of the 3 DLCs? But I guess with the cost of the whole package, it can make sense.
EDIT: The verbiage in OP’s screenshot was cut off. The in-game News page actually says, “… any of the three mentioned DLCs that aren’t already in your collection.”
They may have been -25% off at the time. Possibly pre-order sale? I show -25% discount applied at time of purchase (-$10). (Unless a friend got me a gift card and I was using that, but I think it would say that if so.)
The screenshot posted in OP says “any of the three.” Normal usage of this phrase means, imo, “any one of the three”.
EDIT: I see the full quote seen in-game is actually, “… any of the three mentioned DLCs that aren’t already in your collection.”
So we weren’t given the full context in the OP, my apologies. Here is the more complete message
I tried it out and unfortunately it doesn’t really work. Unchecking them in steam menu makes the DLC campaigns unavailable, but the corresponding DLC civs are still there to select and also appear when playing random civ…
Atualmente a Microsoft Store está em promoção. TMR está por R$13,50. É um absurdo issso. De uma forma geral a atual politica de preço das empresas estão fora da realidade para o BR.
during the last sale aoe2DE was in the top100 best sellers on steam
previously if you bought the DLC you could remove it from the items you own, I’ll have a look if this is stilll possible. they are individual steam products afterall
It’s not crazy. I often encountered the following situation:
A team game (either ranked or lobby) ends up with random civ. I get a civ I do not know well. We lose. Teammates complain that I do not play the civ “properly”, comments like “no way you’re 1500” are pretty common (for reference, this is my 1v1 ELO were I only play maps and civs I like).
For that reason I’m not happy at all that the civs I am “allowed” to play now increased. It makes my game experience worse. And no, the solution is not “just learn all new civs”. I enjoy AoE2, but it’s just a hobby for which I only dedicate a limited amount of time.
They recently added the option to mark civs as favourites so you will only random into these civilizations. You could do that and leave out the DLC civs.
I don’t think this works in multiplayer with forced random civ. It’s also easy to see why: If it did work, one could avoid random civ altogether by starring only a single civ.
aoe2 makes it into the steam best seller list with basically every sale (unless it’s something like winter sale where tons of games are on offer), iirc even some DLC releases have managed to push it into the top 100.
I don’t understand why there is this seemingly ubiquitous misconception that aoe2 is strapped for cash/not a financial success/on the brink of shutting down the servers because they are oh so poor.
With how much money we have thrown at them it’s a disgrace that they still haven’t managed to fix outstanding bugs, provide an in-game community, ranked lobbies etc
I’m not complaining about the “community” (which I am not even a part of in this context. I have not received refunds nor do I expect to receive any refunds.) getting content for free.
I’m complaining about the entry price being raised. Now how am I supposed to say “yeah it has a lot of civs now but the base game is only 20 euros and you don’t need any DLC to enjoy it or have everything you remember from before”? I can’t. Because it’s not 20 euros anymore. It’s 33 euros. And it’s not true anymore that you don’t the DLC to enjoy the game. Because you’re forced to buy them.
