Of the 45 likes on the OP, 26 are all banned, and thereā€™s probably at least another 5 who are also Vinifrss. Thatā€™s a ridiculous amount.

Nine of the ones that donā€™t show as banned are also him.

You could try hiding it Vinifrss, maybe if you were more polite, people would listen.

Unlike you Vinifrss, who has yet to get the memo that the community doesnā€™t want you around.

Sure it can. In my subjective opinion, itā€™s gone backwards in a lot of ways, including graphics quality. I wouldnā€™t worry about it.

Yeah, maybe they change that laterā€¦the sipahi to heavy cavalry and the horseman and the deli remains as light cavalryā€¦

It maybe because the knight is already a heavy cavalry in AoE 4 and represents that roleā€¦

Wow, I never thought this discussion would receive so much attention. Before everything, Iā€™d like to address the ā€˜alt accountā€™ stuff. I donā€™t have any alt accounts but Iā€™m sure that there are people who do and that they also liked my post. I really donā€™t spend time on the forum and donā€™t know anything about the name(s) that has/have been thrown around. As a Turkish girl with Circassian roots, I just thought I could talk about a subject I know a little about and am enthusiastic with. My theory is that those people (with alt accounts) simply demonstrate how dramatic a certain fraction of Turkish people can get over the simplest of things when it gets to history and the Ottomans. This also goes for those who discussed how ā€œthis unit is better than that because they won the ottos this warā€ or ā€œnoooo this unit is better because they had these tactics, weaponry etc.ā€ to some extent. This has been also going on under Beastyqtā€™s and AussieDrongoā€™s comments. Iā€™m aware that not all of those people have to be Turkish but it sounds extremely familiar. Some peeps need to chill out either way.

Anyways, hereā€™s my thoughts on the actual discussion now, one and a half months later:

I came to agree with people who said that the light cavalry could be ā€œTımarlı Sipahiā€ (Timariots) and that the heavy cavalry could be ā€œKapıkulu Sipahisiā€. But it is rather redundant to make such small changes to units. No effect on gameplay whatsoever, they already represent those two units with their models, equipment etc.

I still think Janissaries need a little bit of a rework or a buff of some kind. They donā€™t counter around half the cavalry roster effectively and lose to almost everything else.

I donā€™t know about GB, we donā€™t see many Ottomans players in age 4 due to the ā€˜deathball metaā€™.

I love Mehter as is. Not too strong, not useless and represents the civ in a beautiful manner.

I am still bummed about no horse archers  but if thatā€™s what the devs think is more balanced, thatā€™s what we get to play with. Simple as. I really wouldā€™ve loved to see the Akıncı (Akinji) serving as a horse archer/scout archer unit.

Iā€™d like to address what I said at the end of my original post as well. I think the Malians have very nicely done flavour and the Ottomans also feel very fun to play as. I really appreciate the work that went into the art and sound design departments. The voice lines are beautiful. I believe I was a little ā€˜jealousā€™ on behalf of the Ottomans there. Looking at it now, meh. Theyā€™re both completely fine, it is a game after all. Even though AoEIII is somewhat better at historical representation (only in unit and culture diversity, mind you), it came at the cost of how good the gameplay is and feels. Iā€™d rather have a good game with this one.

I hope anything I said isnā€™t too political for this forum.

With all that said, I wish we, as a community, can move on from the Ottomans.

Note to my compatriots: This is why we usually donā€™t get Turkish representation anywhere. Stop complaining and being so dramatic about it. Just be grateful for a change.

Sounds like a good final thought.
Due to the controversy of the post, the large number of flags and other unfriendly situations, I decided to close the post. Iā€™m so sorry.

Continue the discussion here if you wish.
