Footage of Lords of the West, with Coustilier in action

Another thing about Cavalier in Castle Age is researching it before reaching the Imperial Age means the Paladin upgrade is immediately available upon reaching the Imperial Age. With economic upgrades also coming in one Age earlier than other civs, meaning a Paladin economy comes in faster than other civs, I guess the design intention is to have a Paladin civ which can regularly tech into Paladins in 1v1. Sounds okay on paper. But this is like a roundabout way of doing what the Slavs and their “Paladins” already do through the Elite Boyar.

I’m looking forward to it. I have no confidence in the future of competitive balance with this DLC. But I’m looking forward to it.

Coutilliers seems terrible for long drawn out engagements, anyways that 55 dmg seems bonkers at first glance 11.

If they are unable to attack until their attack fully charges, then camels would completely obliterate them

Well you’re only scratching the surface here. Camels will just be useless against Sicilian knights, and god forbid you have to face their monks 11

Camels going to be less cost efficient against Burgundian knights too.

Well without competitive scene this franchise is dead, so devs will fix if they want to keep their job… I think in the worst case scenario these civs are gonna be nerfed into oblivion BTW

Getting cavaliers in castle age is crazy, considering how cheap that upgrade is

Well at least the Burgundian knights would be dead while Sicilian knights will survive and attack you.

If they have a sliver of common sense left then the civ will lack bloodlines, so they will “merely” be like Lith knights with bloodlines, iron casting and 2 relics, without you being able to deny the “relics” Yipee.

Looking through the video again, some other things I notice :

Cavalier didn’t return some of their gold cost on death. Does this mean Castle Age Cavalier replaces the gold cost return bonus? Or does this mean the gold bonus is still there, but is literally only for Knights?

Even with zero Villagers on food after researching Flemish Revolution, there is a small food trickle of what looks like 1 food/1 second. Is this a new effect added to Flemish Revolution?

I heard Donjons replace Watch Towers and are available in the Feudal Age. But this seems like way too much even supposing the UU is not trainable until the Castle Age. Does anyone know where to confirm this? If it’s in the video, I didn’t see it, or hear it from not understanding the spoken language.

Well if they gave up on some bonuses in exchange for those stronger bonuses then good news, MP isn’t completely dead yet 11

I did not see Burgundians with Cavalier in Castle Age, I read “Chevalier” bwhich is juts Knight in the French translation.

But it’s German, and in German Chevalier = Cavalier.

Donjons are available from Feudal Age on as well as the Serjeant.

Food trickle isn’t mentioned and no confirmation that the refund bonus is still there.

The earlier eco tech bonus is still there.

Pretty arrogant to say that. Way more people play singleplayer and the poll inside the video showcased that most people are interested in new civs and campaigns when it comes to DLCs, not multiplayer stuff. I agree with that statement too.

These look pretty similar to Cavaliers tho

Chevalier is actually a French word but yeah, Cavalier are called Chevalier in the German version of the game.

I play the game either in German or English, but lately more in English to be honest.

The localization in DE is kinda weird. Renamed quite a lot of units.

Serjeants on Feudal age?? It seems that the new trend is getting tech/units one age earlier than you’re supposed to

I am glad for the Unique Castles, though. Every civ should have their own Castle.

Well SP don’t need such strong civs. They could be underpowered, it wouldn’t matter since the AI isn’t as good as a real player. And if you have trouble winning with a civ against the AI you can always lower the difficulty and play a few games befire trying at your fav difficulty again.

They will be balanced in due time. I kinda get the logic of releasing new civs in an OP state to help get people familiarized with the new civs.

The Forgotten Empires ones were barely tried out before they got buffed on a decent level.

SP likes powerful civs too. I’m still not a big fan of Vietnamese and Portuguese e.g. because they feel kinda underpowered to some extent.

Like sure but I would appreciate if they were either not THAT over the top, or if there was a minimum of communication so that everyone can plan ahead (besides just Alt+F4 or laming against those civs every time)

Then you’ve yet to learn what mass eles/organ guns can do to the AI 11

Organ guns/Elite Battle Elephants are fun but Organ guns are basically the one single fun aspect of Portuguese and for Elite Battle Elephants I have like 3 other civs.

They said they’ve talked with famous community members. Wouldn’t surprise me if T90 had access to it beforehand after they’ve announced it.
