This is not the same. If you make a WW2 game you shouldnt be punished for naming Nazis “Germans”, they were still germans, doesnt matter how evil they were.
The Tibetan people made empires in constant warfare, that doesnt make those empires any less Tibetan.
Actually though nobody called them Tibetan back then. Chinese called them Tufan and they call themself Bod Pa or Bo Chen Po. “Tibet” and “Tibetan” were from Iranian and were widely accepted by westerners after 18th century.
There was no indians too but that is how we identify them now.did the chinese call themselves chinese back then?
Naming should always be what majority of the world calls them.helvertians might be a correct name for swiss but people would scratch their heads trying to figure out what they are.

They sure kept the name Indian in aoe4.
Helvertians doesn’t make game experience wired. If you name them Germans that’s another story. Tufan is not another name of Tibet like Teutons is not another name of HRE, it only makes sense for people know little about Asia history(like 19th century British colonizers).

Irelevant, this game is meant to name civs based on player experience. No one from North Africa and Burma complaned. But if they name it Tibetan, I asure you I 'm not alone feeling uncomfortable. The facts I post here about Tibet is common sense to many players in Asia and naming a 7th century “brutal” empire a name given by British colonizer would upset some players very hard. Just wait and see. The native ameriacan naming farce would happen again.

Not comparable. Iroquois from what I understand is just an insult. Tibet is region and the name of an ethnic group, the same ethnic group that created the Tufan empire.
