Göktürks in Orkhon Inscriptions written in 730s mentioned Tibet as “Tüpüt” which is I guess old form of Tibet. Tibet is neighbor country of Göktürks. It seems Tibet name is very old. I read Wikipedia now. Indeed, Origin of Tibet name Turkish “Tüpüt”. Tüpüt in old Turkish means “heights” according to Wikipedia. In modern Turkey Turkish, Tepe mean “hill”. Tibet is Persian spelling of Turkish “Tüpüt”.

Like Turks and Persian you mentioned,also Hindi Tibetan Mongolian Japanese and chinese. Similar to Vikings and mordern day Norway Sweden and denmark.People usually call Scandinavian people before Christian as Vikings, Tibetan Buddhism also boomed after the Tibetan empire collapsed. It’s more of an English thing that the empire was named Tibetan empire. As English became common academic language Tibetan was used more and more on history papers so reading experience is better(people won’t get confused by many different names).
