Here we go? New DLC?

Why do we need new techs

If it is an African DLC its the perfect timing to continue adding cultural variety to generic units like they did with trade carts. Villagers and Monks would be a good next step.

Yeah we don’t really need those although I still would like to see a parthian tactics equivalent for hc to make them somewhat better as a general unit outside countering infantry (would be fine if only a handful civs would get that).

Indians have a criminally underused unique architecture. I hope for more civs that use it.

I personally don’t want to see BE for more civs. I also wanted them for Indians and new Indians civ if happens, but not any more. We already have 4 which is highest among all the regional units. If new Indians civs are bound to have elephant, let’s have a new elephant unit which is more useful and not situational.

Agree. Based on the voices in the community, the Bengalis (represent Pala Empire) and the Dravidians (represent Tamils and Cholas) are very likely.

Maybe considering Battle Elephants as like Camel Riders may make you feel better. People in West Asia, Central Asia and north of Sahel have used camels a lots so they have Camel Riders. In the similar way, people in Southeast and South Asia have used elephants a lots so they have Battle Elephants.

Battle Elephants are not such situational units from my experience. They are actually used to be equivalent heavy cavalry to Paladins for the Southeast Asian civs, especially in the closed maps. On the other hand, the War Elephants are the really situational ones which may need adjustments. It is also shame that they do not belong to Subcontinent civ which they really came from.

Main complain with the current Indians is that they are a camel civi and not an elephant one, just imagine how people would feel if again elephants are not given to them.

If Indians aren’t a Camel Civ, what does that say about the Imperial Camel Rider? Should/could it be given to other Camel civs?

Unique and ugly

I think its looks really cool.

I wish I could say ā€œYesā€. The problem of BE compared to Camel is Camel has a very specific role and the situation to go for camels arrive a lot. On the other hand, having BE is barely an advantage at least in 1v1.

I disagree. They are so easy to counter. Also you have the civ bonuses and UTs that make them stronger. if you want to make them more common unit like camel, you may need to think about a civ with no elephant related bonus. In that case having elephant won’t make any difference from not having it.

Just imagine we have another European DLC. 11

Elephant monks

Of course,in addition the maps feel more alive with animals walking around there, like those of aoe 3 and otherwise everything seems more inert and lifeless…

Of course,I still believe that there will be several civs that will not have a campaign and will only be usable in historical battles only…

Okay,I appreciate the clarification…

So, either a very tough monk, or a monk whose mount can trample you while he’s converting and healing?

Imagine if it had conversion resistance too :joy:

If its tough monk then I would want it to heal only not convert… like the monk heroes in aoe 3

btw best would be just another battle elephant varient with charge attack… additional elephant units such as gaznal (bombard elephant) , elephant hand cannon can be added to editor
