How can I change the facets of units or building on the Editor?

When I see some Campaign maps, especially recent ones, I see some Walls have no pillar forms but linear forms even when the Walls meet together from different directions. By this, the Walls form a neat cross or corner.

It seems the same function that the Jin and Khwarazm in the Genghis Khan Campaign have pillar forms in between the lines of Walls which should be without no pillar forms according to usual settings.

How can I make this? On the Editor, there are no effects of changing object facets. Manual changing by the function of “Rotate” doesn’t work for this when I test the scenario.

You can change the graphic of the wall corner to the wall graphic

I think average AOE2 map designers are highly self-preserving. Only few players share tips for making scenarios.

You need to use SLX editor or SMXwork for editing SMX and other files.

Nothing further from the truth. There are entire discords just for sharing tips and answer questions.

I went to AGE to see which unit is the wall pillar and couldn’t find it. Any clue? It’s not called wall and it’s not called pillar

There’s no cow level…ahem, there’s no unit for pillars. And couldn’t find any graphics for it here

The trick here is that you use remove object to get rid of the corner pieces you don’t want, and then use “Create Object” to add a wall tile there with the “Facet” field set to the ID of the angle you want. From bottom left to top right the following screenshot shows you which variant of the wall you will get for angle IDs 0-4:


If you want to have additional corner pieces where there wouldn’t usually be any, then you can just add an extra wall tile like this and then remove it with triggers:

I always thought that pillars were a different unit!
