How do I transfer a HD data mod to DE? I keep getting error messages

Tried to load this file https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1144420934 into DE. I copied and pasted the filed from AoE2HD’s folders and modded it inot DE but i keep getting an error message when i start the game with the data file selected.

"An error occurred while trying to start the game. Failed to open file: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\AoE2DE

I believe its because under the hood the formatting of the HD and DE .dat files is subtly different, with different “resources” ect, meaning although very similar you cant just copy/paste a mod over. Thats my understanding, I may be wrong.
