Something I hope you keep in mind is that you and other people aligned with you aren’t the only people in the audience. They are listening to everyone!
The expansion is looking pretty bright, even with the initial disappointment. The variants look like they are following the trend established with the last DLC. They have very unique gameplay not seen in any other civ, that’s something to celebrate!
I hope you change your opinion once you get a chance to play it yourself. It’s hard to judge it at such a distance.
easy, content you play alone vs one or more AIs, be it campaign, battles, in a way art of war counts as well
beyond that my only definition is something you play by yourself, with or without internet connection, with PVE instead of PVP
He’s playing with semantics. He knows that when AOE people say “single player content” they usually mean single player campaigns. Bizarre game modes no one asked for or skirmishes against the AI aren’t what people want for single player content, they want campaigns, something that is glaringly absent from the two DLCs for AOE4 this year.
I looked up on the web. Byzantine had their Varangian guards. Norse Varangians made themselves look distinct. Norse ones were long-haired Varangians. I think game theme is consistent. I am trying to get the full picture how the theme is unfolding. I can see some connections. So, this game probably has a different theme, which some players finding difficult to comprehend. I will rather explore and see what I find.
I personally like difficult, highly competitive game where players put their effort. Not a fan of Campaign or Roguellite, but I don’t mind. The game still offers me what I want. Thanks for the history of Varangian. I would not look up if not seen your post. Nice picture of Atgeir!
The ‘Dynasties of the East’ theme goes well with Byzantine under Macedonia. I can see the thematic connection. From Holy Roman Empire, Eastern part (Byzantine), then again further East (Macedonia). Each time moving further to the East. Let’s see what happen next. We might get more new civs.
This guy made one of the most underrated topics on this forum, and we even had another guy who used to share his 3D creations of TCS’s new civilizations. So yes, it is indeed a sin to see all of this happening, since some passionate people can create such masterpieces alone. I’m starting to believe the problem is more of a contractual one than a developmental one.
If only we had real modding. From what I understand, it’s nearly impossible to insert genuinely unique new skins or 3D models, so the community can’t fully show its potential, and the momentum is weaker. Imagine if we had proper mods with the community creating new civilizations and models, this would have put the company in a completely different position, and I believe the future would have been very different.
