AoE3 seems not to cover Greenland and Iceland map?
I read about one interesting moment in history, Ottomans occupying Iceland briefly and wanted to recreate the event in game. Can we perhaps have this map added?
The places are also important for colonial race anyways so they will fit well into the game.
Iceland can be seen on the loading screen, so it seems there are/were plans for it. I’m really hoping it is a part of the DLC that introduces Denmark.
It would be really cool if Iceland featured a volcano or lava flows. The Age of Pirates mod pulled it off so it should be doable.
I really want Greenland too since it would be a great opportunity to add an Inuit minor civ.
This is a big exaggeration. Barbary pirates who were nominally supported by the Ottomans launched slave raids in Iceland.
I was thinking about Iceland too. The volcano is the easiest thing. We’re already re-using it on the upcoming Polynesia map, so Iceland volcano would probably need some new terrain types, but otherwise, it wouldn’t be that complicated (at least from this point of view).
But what about other assets like natives etc… What would you use? We can potentially use Baltic pirates but besides that? The Iceland concept is interesting and we’ll very probably get back to it after we finish the Australia / Oceania region.
Regarding Greenland, we already have Inuit settlements, so we can use them.
